Why would you want to listen to two old guys yelling at clouds? And the worst thing,

0:15

one of them is a fucking Swiftie. Anyways, if you're still listening, here's Adam and Stephen.

0:22

Yes, welcome out to it. This is the Old Men Who Yell at Clouds podcast and we get together

0:26

to talk about the things that matter to us. We are episode number 158. As we recorded it is,

0:32

December 14th, it's approximately 11 a.m. and we are podcasting live out of Vancouver, British

0:38

Columbia. Good evening, good morning, good afternoon, whatever time it is here. Yeah,

0:43

we honour and acknowledge that we join you today from the traditional ancestral and unceded chair

0:50

territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh nations. You know it. That bearded guy you just

0:58

heard, you can't see his beard, it's majestic, but that's Stephen and my name is Adam. Hello there,

1:02

Stephen. Hello, hello Adam. Before we get into things that matter to us, you can support our

1:08

podcast by hitting our webpage. Oh shit, I actually don't know what our webpage is right now. Are we

1:12

still our, are we still? It's still safe to say OldMenWhoYellAtClouds.com. So let's just go with

1:18

that until I set things straight with you. Perfect. It's a work in progress, lots of shit going on.

1:24

We can talk about it a little bit here now. We'll rewind it. Welcome, welcome, welcome. Of course,

1:30

you can support our podcast by hitting our webpage OldMenWhoYellAtClouds.com and subscribing to our

1:34

podcast. And if you want to help us out, please buy us a coffee. I think we've ever got, only got

1:38

two cups of coffee bought for us in like five years. Only two cups of coffee and both by the

1:43

same friend, fan, fan, fan, fan, friends of mine. And it's been quite a while. Wow,

1:52

shit. We're really trending up. We're really trending up. You know, that's a cup of coffee

1:58

between the two of us over five and a half years, almost six years is just not cutting it. We're in

2:04

trouble. Well, I mean, I'm not doing this for the money, although another cup of coffee would be

2:10

nice. Well, they are, exactly. I mean, I've had two coffees ready this morning and

2:14

yeah, there's the two coffees that have been bought for us over the past six years.

2:21

What time are you up this morning? I'm always up pretty early. I'm up at like 5.30,

2:25

six o'clock every day, even on weekends. Yeah, I'm up early.

2:29

I woke up at 10.02 today. Oh, okay.

2:32

I got 34 minutes sleep. Oh fuck, I got to go get a coffee. Got a coffee,

2:36

started my routine and then listen to someone's nine minute song, but we'll get to that after.

2:41

I'm glad I finished off a little bit late. So I'm glad you didn't get to it right away

2:47

because there's a couple of things I added and good, we're able to talk about it.

2:52

Oh, my body is ready. So do we talk about the webpage? The website is being redesigned,

2:58

well, re-hosted. Yeah, it's re-hosted. It will look a little bit different. You know what,

3:03

it's, I do this when I have time and I have been putting a lot of time into it because,

3:11

so basically though, here's what's going on. We have moved to a different web host and it

3:17

means some big changes, at least in the backend. You will see a new website. It'll be again,

3:23

very minimal at least to start, but you'll be able to catch our podcast there. It means

3:31

resharing the feed with all of our platforms that do basically bring in or distribute the podcast,

3:45

but it also means starting from scratch though. That's the thing. So all of these different web

3:52

hosts, they start to get a little bit funny when you start uploading audio and video,

3:58

especially larger amounts. So far, we've got 157 episodes for today. That amounts to about

4:08

20 gigs of data. Now that doesn't sound like a lot and it really isn't a lot for everyday things,

4:15

but when it comes to a web host, they start to freak out when you start sharing or storing

4:21

or backing up. Sometimes they call it backing up because they think they don't want you to be

4:25

doing any of that stuff. It's not a backup. These web hosts, they don't want storage to be

4:32

used for backups, for media, for streaming your stuff. And in some ways that includes podcast

4:39

episodes. So if you want to, you're going to have to pay a shit ton of money, more money than what

4:47

we're willing to pay if you want to start hosting large amounts of data. So I've been working on

4:53

some different stuff here. I've got a solution in place. I actually had to tinker a little bit

4:59

more again this morning with it. Basically, it's been two steps forward, one step back,

5:04

but I'm making progress here. So it's coming along. Hopefully this week we'll have at least 157

5:12

and the last six episodes prior to that are now available on Apple podcasts. Of course,

5:18

I have got to add the new feeds to all of these other platforms. So again, that takes a little

5:24

bit of time too. Anyways, we're getting there and our website is now the oldmen.ca.

5:34

So you can still access us from oldmenwhoyellatclouds.com because we still own that domain.

5:40

But if you go to, and you're going there now, I can tell, but there's nothing there yet.

5:45

No, I'm just writing it down so I don't fuck this up.

5:48

But yes, theoldmen.ca.

5:53

Sick.

5:54

So you'll hopefully be able to see something there real soon, real soon.

5:58

Real soon, we're getting there.

5:59

Yeah, we're getting there. But again, some of our episodes are going to become available again

6:04

here real soon, starting with the most recent ones. As I said, Apple podcasts, you can now find those

6:11

all of our episodes, including the latest one, 157, you can find that there too. So anyway, big

6:16

changes. You may look at all of this and it may not be a big deal or a big change, but fuck,

6:24

I've been putting a shit ton of work into this.

6:26

Oh, I can only imagine.

6:28

Not that I have much time, but I've been trying. So that's where we're at.

6:32

I will personally buy you another cup of coffee.

6:35

That sounds good. One thing we're going to be able to do that I've started doing with 157,

6:42

and I don't know how it's going to work for a listener now or for somebody who wants to,

6:49

who finds our podcasts on some of these platforms that are distributing, like again,

6:55

Apple, Google, Spotify, whatever. I'm starting to add transcripts. So

7:01

transcripts help with, it's not going to make us more money, but the idea with transcripts is it

7:05

does make, what's accessibility. Accessibility is a big thing now with websites and that includes

7:12

podcasts. So if some people, some people like to have a transcript to go along with the podcast

7:17

as they're listening. So that's now available starting with 157. I don't know how that works

7:24

with 157. I don't know how that works on these different platforms yet. Anyways, it's there.

7:35

I'll figure it out. I'll play with it. I'll just make sure that's going to be available for people.

7:39

So the other thing I'm working on is chapters. Like on our website, you notice that I've broken

7:46

down different sections in time code and stuff like that. So people can skip ahead, but you're

7:51

able to, you're actually able to insert chapters within the MP3 file itself.

7:58

And that just makes skipping ahead or moving to each section a little bit easier, I think. So I'm

8:03

working on that too. So cool things like that coming up, right? It's just all part of this

8:09

podcasting 2.0 that I'm learning about. And it allows you to do these additional things just

8:16

to make the experience a little bit more fun, I guess, for the listeners.

8:22

Well, you know what's crazy is we started this as our little COVID project and stuff. And

8:26

since the time we started five, six years ago, whenever it's been, it's multiplied so much.

8:32

Again, these tools were running around and we existed. All these weird ways of hosting

8:37

went around and we started getting ready to rock. The girl, she listens to the podcast at

8:42

like 0.2 speed. So when she listens to us, she speeds it up. So our two hour show now becomes an

8:49

hour. We actually sound like young, hip humans. We're moving up in the world. But she leads this

8:56

Apple podcast and it actually automatically, once it uploads it and stuff, it doesn't happen

9:02

instantly, but within one or two days, it auto transcribed it for us. So that auto transcribed

9:06

already exists with Apple. So that's cool because they do it on their end, I think.

9:12

Yeah. And I think Spotify does it as well. So yeah, some of the platforms are able to do that

9:17

automatically somehow, but you can do it yourself as well. And then sometimes, and maybe this might

9:26

work better or more for the player that's going to be hosted for each episode on our website.

9:33

Because there, obviously it was just a player, an audio player, right? But now I'm hoping that the

9:40

transcript will be embedded into that player somehow on our website too. So anyways, yeah,

9:47

again, it's a work in progress, stuff I'm learning about all the time. And again, when I have time,

9:53

that's what it's all about here. So. Oh yeah. No, time is up. Are you finding like time is,

10:01

like this year went by so quick. I don't know if it went by quick for you, but I'm just, yeah,

10:05

that's just, it's been a, it's been a year. Yeah. It's December 5th, well, 14th today. It's,

10:11

we're halfway through December. The year is almost done. And I look back and I think about

10:18

things and like, it's like, it just flew by and I just can't believe another one is over. And yeah,

10:27

it seems to go by quicker and quicker. I know I always say that. I tell it to everybody when

10:31

we talk about this shit. It's just like, the older you get, the faster it seems to go by.

10:38

And I know it's time is time. It doesn't stand still, but it doesn't move any quicker either,

10:42

but it's, yeah, it's crazy. We're losing, we're losing this battle of time. We are? Well,

10:49

and we're all dying. That's what it is. We're all dying a slow death. Isn't that, isn't that

10:57

positive talk for our, for you and I, and for our listeners, eh?

11:03

Well, here, let's, let's segue into that. I almost fucking died. There was a,

11:07

I got major food poisoning. Oh fuck, no. Major food poisoning. So

11:12

I, I'm actually coming off of about, about 26, 27 days off. Yep. My first day back was last,

11:20

yeah. I, I had, took a couple of weeks off from my birthday. Yep. So there's this bakery,

11:27

I'm going to fuck these guys. There's this bakery called Bell Bakery right by Joy Station.

11:30

And I, it's these little Chinese dumplings that have like meat, like they're filled with meat or

11:36

meat. So you can get them with a chicken. There's a chicken deluxe one, and there's a pork one,

11:40

and there's a barbecue pork one. I got the chicken one. I ate about 95% of it. The girl ate 5% of it.

11:48

I was down for two full days. Like I was in bed. I couldn't move over. Things were coming

11:53

into my body that didn't know existed. I was just, I was beyond sick. Like I couldn't,

11:59

like I was in bed. I was scrolling. I couldn't sit up and go on my computer or watch a show.

12:04

All I could do was lay down. I could, you know, when you're so sick that you have to

12:08

convince yourself to roll over and plug your phone in, that was me. I'm like, oh my God.

12:13

I was, I've never been, well, I mean, I think I've been that sick before, but I haven't been this sick

12:17

in like 10 years, 10, 15 years. Like I was fucking done.

12:24

That doesn't sound very good. Like are you, are you sure it was food poisoning and not the flu?

12:29

Like is it, did the better half get sick too?

12:34

Yeah. So like I'm a, like I live at home still, so my parents are around. So I'm obviously

12:40

kicking around. I was isolated, but, but I ate like, so she took a one bite of the dumpling

12:47

that I had. And so she got the same thing. She was down for a day. So we pretty much isolated

12:52

to that, that place. So yeah, that was fun. And then I got sick again. Last Saturday,

13:03

I went to Moody Ales. Moody Ales is a brewery down on Brewer's Row and they're closing down.

13:09

Their last day of operation is today or tomorrow. And I got a flight of beers, like a little two,

13:15

three ounce flight of beers and lady gave me the wrong fucking beer. I'm like, oh fuck it. It's

13:19

okay. Fine. Fuck whatever. So I drank it anyways. It tasted weird. It wasn't good, but I, I downed

13:25

it anyways. So I had a flight of beer and a beer, went to the next one. I had a flight of beer and

13:29

a beer, went to the next brewery, had a beer and I had to go home because I got sick. So there was

13:34

something in that beer I didn't agree with or whatever it was. And I was down for another day.

13:40

Yeah. So fuck this. I'm food, well, I don't know if that was food poisoning or

13:47

I don't know, whatever. I was, I haven't been having a good couple of weeks, but I'm on the mend.

13:52

I feel better now. So that's really what counts. Okay. Well, that's good. That's good. It's just,

13:58

you know, these things seem to knock us back and as we get older, it's a little bit more difficult

14:03

to recover. It takes a little bit longer to recover from this shit and our body just doesn't,

14:10

doesn't need to go through stuff like that. I mean, nothing, nothing's wrong with being cleaned out

14:15

real good once in a while, but you don't want it to happen that way. I know, man.

14:19

Like there was nothing left. I mean, where's this fluid coming from? Like, holy fuck. Oh man.

14:26

See, it's, it's pretty bad when you, it's bad enough. We talk about age and shit,

14:31

but when you talk about bodily fluids and that's getting disgusting, man.

14:35

You know, it's life, you know, and that's what our listeners appreciate is us talking about life.

14:41

Yeah. All right. Let's move on to a better and brighter things.

14:47

Black Friday as a come and gone, it was Record Store Day. Did you end up grabbing anything for

14:51

Black Friday? You know, so I may have mentioned last time, you know, what was going on that day,

14:58

cause we had, we finished up a conference, you know, with work and yeah, you're at

15:04

river rock or something. Yeah. Yeah. So I came out of there early in the morning, but oh yeah,

15:13

you know what? No, I was home in time and what I did was I was able to go down to,

15:19

sorry, I'm just trying to bring up my discography here.

15:31

Like I use, like I use Discogs to track all my collection and we've talked about that before,

15:37

right? So anyways, what was I saying? Yes. So I got home early enough that I was able to get to

15:44

Beat Street down here on Hastings and just off Richards downtown here. Yeah. So, and you know

15:51

what? I showed up and there were, and I was late. Like typically I'm for, at least for the regular

15:57

Record Store Day, I'm there at least an hour before it opens. It opened again this time around at

16:04

10 AM. I was there by nine 10, I think, or nine 15. So I was still there early, but not as usually

16:11

as I usually do. There were five people ahead of me, only five. Normally it's been down the block.

16:17

Like it's been, by that time it's normally, it's normally a pretty big lineup and you risk,

16:24

if you're at the back of the line, sometimes you risk getting what you came there for, right?

16:28

Yeah. Because again, depending on the number of copies that are available at that particular

16:32

store. Yeah. Five people, but you know what? When you look at the list this year of releases,

16:39

it was actually pretty disappointing. Yeah. At least, at least for stuff that I'm interested in.

16:44

Overall, the collection of releases was not as big as it usually is. And Black Friday is always

16:50

a little bit smaller than the one in the springtime. Like it makes me wonder, like again,

16:57

all of this is really good. It's good for independent labels, record stores, all of this

17:03

stuff, right? Yeah. It's good. So I'm not trying to diminish it, but I've been saying all along now

17:09

like it's becoming a little bit too watered down. It's becoming, it's like every Tom, Dick and Harry

17:17

wants to get involved in some way and they just issue a bunch of slop. It's like it's losing its

17:25

edge. Yeah. Right? I don't know if other people feel that way or not, but it's just not the same.

17:34

It really isn't. It's not as exciting. It's not like I really anticipate, really anticipate this

17:42

event every single year now anymore like I used to, because they're, you know, you used to be able to

17:47

like, shit, I really want that, right? So I'm going to get down there nice and early. And now it's,

17:52

well, I don't know if I make it, I make it. You know, it'd be nice to get a couple of things,

17:56

but whatever. Yeah. I'm saving myself some money if I don't get this stuff, right? So

18:01

that's, that's how I feel this has become. And yeah, I don't know if I'm alone in that or not.

18:10

I'm, who knows? I might think differently than other people, but

18:15

anyways, anyways, that's, that's the way it is. Now, having said that, I did pick up a couple of

18:21

releases. One of them actually is, is pretty cool. It's a, it's a reissue. It's a vinyl reissue from

18:28

a band called Sloburn. Sloburn was John Garcia. John Garcia is from Kyuss. And of course he went

18:36

on to form some other bands after that. He's the vocalist. One of those bands is called Sloburn.

18:42

They issued an EP way back in 2000 and I forget when that came out, 2001 or,

18:50

and it's been almost 25 years anyways. Yeah. I think there was probably an initial

18:56

vinyl run at that time, but I know I've got the CD and you know, they, it's, it's, I mean,

19:05

it's hard to find. It's a very rare release, I think. So the vinyl from that time is probably

19:10

the same. Anyways, so I picked up that cause it's, so it's a 12 inch. There's only four songs. Like

19:16

I said, it's an EP, but so this is a 12 inch, all four songs on one side and on the other side is,

19:23

is an etched, yeah, it's just etched on the other side. And there's some cool stuff

19:30

these companies are doing now with, you know, with things like that, not only colours,

19:34

you know, but they, if there's, you know, they just put an etching on the other side to,

19:40

well, if it's not, in this case, it's fall four songs fit on one side. So we'll, you know,

19:44

they decided to do something with the other side that doesn't have any content. So anyway,

19:50

so I picked up that. The other one I got is from a band called Witch. Lots of bands called Witch,

19:58

of course. This Witch is from a band from Zambia, Zambia in Africa, of course,

20:07

in case people don't know where Zambia is. I don't know what part of Africa is Zambia actually.

20:13

Anyway, Zambia stands for We Intend to Cause Havoc. So kind of a cool name. But this band was around

20:23

like in the 70s. So this is a release of theirs, a re-release, I guess, of theirs. The album is

20:33

called, what is this one called? Shit, I had it. Oh, fuck. Oh, fuck. Where is it now?

20:40

What is the album called? Okay, hang on. Hang on. It's called Fool's Ride. So actually it's a

20:50

collection of their singles from the early 70s. Sweet. So it is really cool. It's a really,

20:57

it's a cool sound. They do play a psychedelic rock, garage rock type music. But being from Africa,

21:08

it's just got this, it's different. It sounds really cool. I mean, you should check it out.

21:15

There's some other bands from Africa, from Zambia that I have listened to and it's all

21:20

really cool stuff. And anyway, so that's an album that I picked up. I just got those two things.

21:26

So there were a couple of other releases that I didn't, they didn't come in actually,

21:32

because that's the other thing with record store days. Sometimes these stores don't always get

21:36

the shipments. Yeah. And yeah, cause I think there was a Tom Petty, a live anthology series.

21:46

I think they called it Anthology Volume 1 or something. So it's different, just different

21:50

live, rare live recordings, I think from Tom Petty. I didn't get that. That one didn't come

21:56

in actually. That was one of them. So that's all I bought. That's all I bought. So I don't know

22:01

if you got to go anywhere yourself or picked up anything? No, I've made the decision to stop

22:09

collecting the physical media cause I'm saving up for the house. So I haven't really bought

22:13

anything in the last three years, four years record wise or vinyl or records, CDs, if you can still

22:20

buy CDs. I don't buy much anymore just because trying to save up for that house. And that's

22:27

maybe the other thing. Maybe the cost of living has gone up so much that people just can't afford

22:32

to go buy a record anymore. Maybe that's hurting the industry or everything in general. Yeah,

22:37

absolutely. I think that's a big part of it too. Things are not cheap anymore and

22:45

not that they were cheap, especially in a center here or city like Vancouver, but things have

22:53

gotten even worse over the past three or four years. Well, since COVID, things have gotten

22:58

pretty bad, I think. Yeah. And it's just been made worse by Trump and the economy in general,

23:06

I think. So what are you going to do? Well, if you, hey, saving up for a house is a big deal

23:15

and that's a lot of money itself too. So yes, you've got to do what you can. What are your plans

23:21

with that? When do you hope to get into that market and where are you looking? My budget is

23:28

500,000. Yeah. So whatever that gets me around the time, give or take, whatever it is. But

23:35

a lot of cool things happening in Langley, a lot of different things going around that way.

23:40

So just take a look around to see what's available. I'm probably about another two and a half years

23:46

out. Realistically, I want 300,000 saved. So probably that's four-ish years out because I

23:54

need a safety net after. Once you move in, things are going to get tight. So you just need extra

23:59

cash kicking around for whatever reason, car breaks down or emergency fund-wise or that last

24:06

minute trip to see Metallica at the Sphere, whatever it is. Yeah. So doing that. So in about

24:13

the last two-ish years, I've saved pretty close to a hundred grand. Yeah. Wow. So busted my ass.

24:20

So I hope that another, it's probably four-ish or four-ish years before I start looking. I know

24:27

you're going to be in the hot or cold market. Who cares? There's never any right time to buy

24:31

a place. It's when you are ready to rock. Yeah. I could physically go buy a place tomorrow and do

24:38

it and fill out all the paperwork and go, but then I'm going to be house poor. I won't be able

24:42

to do anything. It's just, it's going to be bad. I still want to be able to live life and go out

24:47

to restaurants and, you know, pay, pay for some shit. So I figure if you pay half, put at least

24:53

half down your place, it brings your mortgage down by half, which is reasonable for a solo person.

24:59

And if I have a partner, it's going to be even sweeter. But as of right now, just working through

25:05

it and trying to get there whenever I get there. Yeah. That's, I mean, that's a good, good plan.

25:12

And everybody has to do what's best for them, of course. I mean, the 20, you have about a 25%

25:18

down payment right now by the size of it. And that's, that is pretty good. Yeah. But it still

25:24

means you've got a $400,000 mortgage minimum. And I don't know what monthly payments look like on

25:30

something like that, but yeah, that's a shit ton of money. And I mean, obviously a limit of around

25:39

500,000 bucks probably limits where you can go too, doesn't it? Yeah. You were talking Langley

25:45

and, you know, I'm not sure. Yeah. You know, obviously the further out you get, the cheaper

25:51

things are, at least a little bit anyway, I would think. Yeah. But yeah. Yeah. It's, I don't know.

26:00

Yeah. I've, I've been a homeowner. I know what it's like. Yeah. So obviously since moving to Vancouver,

26:07

I never thought for a second that I would ever be a homeowner living out here again. So I mean,

26:13

that's just, just, just the way it is and just where we are in life and, and all that stuff,

26:20

right? It's for us. And again, this is for us, it's not for everybody, but for us, you know,

26:25

the rental market works. There's just the two of us, you know, we've got no kids. We love living

26:32

downtown. I don't mind not having a vehicle. We don't mind using public transit. Yeah. You know,

26:42

so all of those things, right? So, you know, convenience to shopping, groceries, convenience

26:48

to get to work, all of that is just ideal for us right now. And I could, and again, to drive to

26:55

work, like there's, there's no way that I would want to drive to work every single day. And again,

27:00

that's, that's my preference. That's my right. I guess that's the way I want to do it. So I'm not

27:04

saying it's for everybody, but like I could not imagine driving to work. I mean, even, even last

27:12

week I was in the office or the, was it the week before it's, you know, it's, you know, talking

27:19

about people who do, who do even take transit from East Van, you know, it takes them even over an

27:27

hour to get to the office, right? Because there's no direct route. You got to take a couple of

27:32

different buses or whatever. People do drive from further in the Valley. And, and again, like it

27:39

takes an hour and a half to drive to the office. Like, like, okay, you can do it. Just don't

27:47

complain. Just don't complain to me because that's your choice. I mean, it's just like, you know,

27:54

I don't know how people do it. Cause I couldn't, there's no way, there's no way I could do it.

27:58

Hour and a half just kills you. I'm debating, you know, there's a,

28:03

might be some opportunities arising, but I might have to commute downtown every day.

28:07

Yeah. I'm like, oh man, I do not want to do that. I'm at off time. So it's not too bad,

28:12

but it's 45 minutes each way. And well, 45. So like the problem is the traffic's fucked. So

28:19

at nighttime, like I can get, it's two o'clock, minimal people on the road, two a.m. I can get to

28:25

where I need to be still driving safely, not ripping, not ripping through the speed limit,

28:30

just driving safely. I can get to where I need to be in about 30 to 40 minutes,

28:35

depending on how many lights you hit and whatever's going on and whatever it is.

28:38

That same route during like now, if I were to leave now, that now becomes like an hour,

28:43

an hour and 10 minutes. And it's because of the fucking idiot drivers. They don't know what

28:47

they're doing. Like it's, you always see little pockets and what's happening and get one little

28:52

guy just poking along that screws, literally screws everything up. Yeah. It's brutal. It's,

28:58

it's absolutely brutal. Hmm. Yeah. Do you find your stress levels low because you're taking

29:03

transit or do you still kind of get pissed off in transit when you're ripping around?

29:10

Oh, I'm sure it's a lot less than, than it would be if I was driving. That's for sure. Yeah.

29:14

But you know, there's, there's still things, you know, you still have to deal with people

29:17

and, and again, and again, this is overall, it's less than probably having to have to drive every

29:21

day. But I find that anytime, whether it's going to, going to work or going someplace else using

29:27

public transit still is a challenge in some ways, maybe challenges in the right word, but you know,

29:32

dealing with dumb inconsiderate people, um, you know, trying to get on a bus and you know, if you're

29:42

in a lineup, I guess it's sort of a makeshift lineup. I don't know who uses the lineup anymore,

29:46

but you know, the thing that pisses me off is you've got these young people who just crash

29:52

raid in or they go in through the back door or something like that. Right. And it's just like,

29:57

you know, here you are, you know, you're at the front of the bus, you're waiting with everybody

30:01

else to get in and there's some open seats, you know, they are, but then some assholes go into

30:06

the fucking back door and then all of a sudden the seats are all gone. Right. Yeah. Um, not that I

30:12

need to sit down, but Hey, I've got a bad back, a bad neck, some bad shoulders. Uh, I would like

30:17

to sit down when I can. There are other times where I don't care because I'm sitting all day

30:22

at work anyway. So, you know, why not? So, you know, I don't mind standing in the bus, but the

30:27

point, the point is number one, people have their fucking backpacks on in a packed bus and that

30:33

sucks. You know, take your fucking backpack off. Number two is, um, not that I'm a senior, but Hey,

30:40

you know, you know, these young people should be offering their seats. Hey, I, I look older.

30:45

I've got the beard anyways. That makes me look older. I think it's, it's, yeah. It's not like I

30:52

like, it's not like I need to sit down, but Hey, if somebody is going to offer me a seat, then great.

30:57

Thank you very much. I'll take it. If, you know, if I feel like it, sometimes I don't. And sometimes

31:02

believe it or not, people do offer their seats still. Yeah. But overall, these young people,

31:08

they've got their fucking headphones on, they've got their fucking phone in their face, uh, they're,

31:12

they're facing their phones and they don't give a shit about anybody else around them.

31:16

And there are these old people, these, I shouldn't call them old people, these seniors or elderly

31:22

people who, who, who, who need a seat and, you know, nobody offers them a seat. So I'm not talking

31:31

about myself necessarily here in this case, but I'm just talking in general, you know, there are

31:36

people who, they deserve to be offered a seat and these people are not doing that. And, um, yeah,

31:45

pisses me off. You know, so it's just, it's, it's frustrating things like that, right? It's, yeah,

31:49

it's still overall, the stress level is shit. I walk, I walk whatever five, seven minutes to the

31:56

bus stop in the morning, especially when it's not too busy, uh, hop on the bus. I'm at the office,

32:02

uh, 10 or 15 minutes later, right? Oh, that's money. Stress-free. It's, uh, I don't have to

32:07

deal with the traffic. Um, so yeah, so overall it's, it's, it's much better. I just, uh, I wouldn't

32:17

ask for it any other way really. Except for working from home. Except when I do have to go to the

32:23

office, I'd rather stay home. Oh yeah, it's way easier. But, uh, yeah, I still, I still love

32:28

working from home. I really do. I know there's times when I need to be in office, but yeah,

32:32

working from home is great. I hope that doesn't change. And then, uh, you know, you, these people

32:38

who are commuting, like, I mean, we've had the torrential downpour for the last three years.

32:43

Abbotsford is underwater. Chilliwack's fucked. Like it's, have you been keeping up on what's going

32:48

on out that way or? Well, yeah, I've been kind of watching the news and stuff like that. Yeah.

32:53

Or at least looking at, uh, you know, the stories on the, on the internet. Uh, yeah, pretty bad.

32:58

It's just. It's fucked again. It's, uh, yeah, this weather is pretty screwy. And, uh, you know,

33:07

again, it's all because of climate change and, um, yeah, it really impacts the people out there.

33:14

That's for sure. I mean, downtown was wet. No question. It was wet down here, but it's not

33:18

like it was out there. That's, that's for sure. You know, I don't know of any flooding that

33:22

necessarily that happened here downtown. You know, the drains seem to handle everything

33:28

for the most part anyway. Um, yeah, that's pretty shitty out there. Definitely. You know,

33:34

the highways, are the highways still closed? There's like, I mean, there's, I'm getting

33:38

breaking news updates. Yeah. Um, so like the last one I just got was highway one reopened

33:44

through Abbotsford after flooding. Okay. So it says one eastbound lane, both westbound and

33:49

eastbound on highway stretch have been open between highway 11 and number three, uh,

33:55

road through Abbotsford are now open. So that's like three days, whatever it is. But I mean,

33:59

it's still, yeah, it's, yeah, man, it's, it's rough. Yeah. Yeah. It's, um,

34:07

yeah, it's not good. I don't know. Part of it is that river, that same river that comes

34:14

up from Washington state, right? Yeah. Um, so let's blame Trump.

34:19

And they got hammered down there too. Like some of the places in Bellingham are flooded out and,

34:23

yeah, and whatever it is. So it's just not us. And you're right. The people who say global warming

34:29

isn't a thing. Like it's December this time, you know, 15 years ago was fucking minus 18. Now we're

34:36

like plus nine. Like it's nine degrees right now. It's going to flip. When did it flip last year?

34:41

Like late January or early February. I can't remember. It just, it flips and it's now, hey,

34:46

it's minus 25. Oh fuck, here we go. Um, like you see the North Shore mountains every day. I see the

34:52

North Shore mountains every day. There's no snow up there. They're, they're, yeah, they're hurting.

34:56

So yeah, it's, uh, we are getting, we're getting hammered in more ways than one.

35:03

Yeah. Well, I was talking to my mom already just before, uh, we just started here and, um,

35:10

you know, in Alberta and it's, yeah, it's middle December and they got some snow last week. Uh,

35:16

and it, and it's been cold at times out there. Like they've had the minus 20, I think minus,

35:20

maybe even minus 30 weather already in parts of Alberta, maybe not where my mom is, but up

35:25

at Edmonton, I think it got pretty cold. And, uh, anyways, it's been pouring there. It's been

35:30

raining. So it's, it's warmed up. It's, you know, middle of December it's raining. Uh,

35:36

it's raining lots. It's raining heavy and, um, like that's, that's fucked up. Yeah. It's, uh,

35:44

it's really, yeah, it's crazy weather. So, um, yeah, I don't know. I don't know. It's gonna hit

35:51

and then it's just gonna get cold and that's gonna scare me. Wow. That's, that's the big thing,

35:54

right? It's gonna get shitty outside. It's gonna get slippery and people aren't gonna be able to

35:59

handle it and people are gonna fall. And, uh, that's the last thing I want to happen to my mom,

36:05

of course. And, you know, not that she has to go out any time any much anymore, but, um, you know,

36:11

when she does, she's gotta be damn careful. That's for sure. Sucks. And then I don't know if you

36:16

read this, but the Cheetos fucking the social media, he's implementing a new bullshit order.

36:23

Says tourists would have to reveal their last five years of social media activity under new

36:27

Trump plan. Did you take a look at this? The best part about this whole thing are the comments.

36:32

Me and you are personally fucked. If they catch a podcast episode, I'm fucked. Like we're fucked.

36:39

But yeah, I remember you deleted all your socials. Um, whatever you've been about social

36:44

free for 10 years now, seven years, five years. For the most part, for probably,

36:49

well, remember I think I did when we started the podcast, I think I started a Twitter account

36:53

again, didn't I? I can't remember. I think I did temporarily, but, but yeah, I, I deleted that

36:59

again in a, in a hurry. That's for sure. So, um, but you know, still, you know, all, all of this

37:05

is part of like there, there it's, it's, there's, this is a big picture. Like this particular,

37:13

um, disclosure, I guess, or whatever it is that they, Trump wants to call it or they want to call

37:18

it downstairs or down, downstairs, down there. Um, this is, uh, I think they apply to a limited

37:25

number of countries and I don't think Canada is one of them. And it's, and it's, um,

37:33

I think it's to people who are, are trying to enter without a visa.

37:38

So there are some, yeah, some guidelines or something around it. So, and I don't think

37:44

Canada is on that list, but the fact that it's happening is, will, will still affect a lot of

37:50

people. Um, uh, yeah. And I think, I think it's, as you know, I think this, this is, it's bullshit

37:58

and it's, um, it's, I don't know. And it's all about Trump and his ego. Like, like I don't, like

38:07

the thing is a lot of countries are kind of heading in this direction anyways, about, um,

38:13

you know, nothing, especially on your phones being private, like that they should,

38:19

um, like there's no privacy in their minds. There's, there's, there's no privacy and we

38:25

have a right to search anything we want. Yeah. Because, you know, some different things that

38:29

have happened even recently, like, like Australia was the first one and this just happened last

38:35

week, I think they have made, um, social media. Well, they've banned it for people under 16 years

38:42

old. Yeah, I saw that. I mean, yeah. So there's that there are places, there's countries in Europe

38:49

and I think the United States could be involved in this too, in that they think that they should,

38:56

there should be a back door so that they can monitor all of these, um, all messages that

39:03

people are coming through. So not just your regular SMS stuff, but all of these apps like

39:08

Signal, which are encrypted and meant for private communication, they are saying that all of these

39:15

apps should have a back door so that they can get in there as well. And, uh, and, and basically if

39:21

you don't make that happen, well, then your app is made illegal. And, uh, so there's a bunch of

39:27

stuff like this happening all throughout the world. But again, I guess my, my question was

39:32

what I was going to get to if Trump wasn't president, would stuff like this be happening

39:38

in the United States? Uh, I don't know. Yeah, I don't know. See, because a lot of it is

39:45

him not wanting people, regardless of who you are or where you are, he does not like people talking

39:51

bad of him or talking down about him, right? And it's, so that's the thing. It's all the fucking

39:57

upstairs. It's all an ego thing with him and he wants control over that because he's a fucking

40:02

narcissist. He wants control over everything, everywhere. And you know, just, yeah, I mean,

40:09

we could go on about some other stuff that's been going on recently with him, uh, from Venezuela and

40:15

like, he's just, he, he's, he, he wants a Nobel peace prize so badly, right? But you know, but

40:22

here he is, here he is doing, trying to do this peace plan between Ukraine and Russia. And he's

40:28

basically up Putin's ass because, because he's, he, he is basically telling Ukraine that, hey,

40:36

just give Russia what they want and let's fucking end the war now. Well, that would mean Ukraine

40:41

giving up at least 20% of the country that they held before all of this bullshit started,

40:47

right? Like, like fuck off. You know, Venezuela, like what the hell is going on down there? He's

40:52

bombing these boats. He doesn't, he, at least he has not provided any proof that they are running

40:59

drugs or anything like that. He's just blowing these fucking people out of the water. Now he's

41:04

going in and seizing oil tankers coming from Venezuela. Like, it's just like, fuck off,

41:09

asshole. Yeah. Stick to your own fucking country and clean that place up before getting involved

41:14

in anybody else. How many more years does he have left? Two? Oh, fuck. No, he's still got

41:19

three years left. This is only year one, man. Only year one. Yeah. See, we talked about time

41:24

going by so fast. This is going by so slow. Word. Cause while it might be year two that he's,

41:30

is he in year two now? Oh, fuck. I don't know. I lost track. Let's Google it. He,

41:34

because midterms are next year, right? Which is two years after,

41:40

after the regular elections for president. So midterms are next year. So that means the next

41:46

presidential election is 2028. Is that right? Yeah. So I think so.

41:53

Donald Trump's, the timeline of the second president of Donald Trump during the first

41:58

quarter of 2025. He was president January 20th, 2025. Yeah. That's when he got sworn in. So

42:05

basically, basically we've got another three years of this bullshit. Oh, good. And

42:12

you know, so, so here's the other thing. Since we're talking about all of this,

42:16

just last week, another fucking thing happened where, where a man was arrested because they

42:21

alleged that he was wiped his phone before a search with the, the CBP, the whatever,

42:29

what is that called? The, the Customs and Border Protection Agency. Basically the border guards,

42:37

the US border cops. So yeah, this happened on, oh, that's when he was indicted. He was indicted by

42:45

a grand jury on November 13th and an arrest warrant was issued the same day. Anyways,

42:52

it says that on January 14th, he knowingly destroyed contents of, of the pixel phone

42:57

for the purpose of preventing or impairing government authorities from taking the property

43:02

into their custody. See, so, so I think like, if you read the whole thing, I don't,

43:08

I don't believe in there. It says that they were targeting, like if you were, if, if,

43:15

if they suspected you of committing a crime and you knew that they were coming and then you,

43:25

even then, is that, I don't know, even then and then you deleted your phone,

43:31

could that be considered, what's it called? Could that be considered obstruction? I don't know.

43:42

But see, but, but I heard that he wasn't even charged with a crime. Like other, like other

43:47

than this, he was not, like, I don't think he did anything wrong, right? So all he did was

43:53

clear his phone and they of course knew that right away. And I don't, I mean, from what I can tell

44:02

from the stories I've read, they, they were not targeting him. They did not suspect that he was

44:08

doing anything wrong or had any content on his phone that would incriminate him. And, and they,

44:18

they're doing this, right? It's like, it's like, fuck. It's like,

44:24

you know, that's, that's just invasion, privacy invasion for sure. And it's just,

44:30

I don't know. I don't know. Like it's, it sucks because we live and die by these fucking things.

44:34

Like you're on it so much. It's a life. Oh, where's my phone? Like people lose your

44:38

fucking mind over these things. And like, I don't know, like, I don't know if you're Android,

44:43

I'm Apple. If I enter in my password wrong five times, I'd automatically wipes. Yeah.

44:50

And, um, yes. And the androids have that capability as well. Yeah. So that I have that

44:55

set up. I'm ready to go. Uh, just, and I like, like it's, I mean, I can't lock it down quite

44:59

as much as your Android. I can't, but like, I have like the charging ports. You can't charge

45:05

this phone unless I unlock it and plug it in. Like there's different things they can do. Cause

45:09

they, there's like tools and software out there to force break your phone open. And as far as

45:14

I can, I've locked it down as much as you can do, uh, and be ready to rock that way. So even if

45:21

the phone gets seized at the border, okay, yeah, fuck, good luck. You get five chances and it's

45:25

fucked. Like, and that's, it's as well. So am I obstructing justice or am I just keeping my shit

45:32

safe? Cause yeah, and that's, and that's what it is because, you know, because it's my phone,

45:38

I can give you my phone. Here you go, Steven, enjoy, but I have to unlock it before you can

45:42

see what's going on. Like, I know you're not going to go fucking look at my bank apps or whatever,

45:46

go on my socials. I don't go fuck, but like even that stuff is locked down with password and two

45:50

step authentication. That's ripping down to me and face ID and all that shit as much as I can get it

45:56

down. So like, that's me getting, but even if I gave it to the fucking guy, I have nothing to

46:01

hide. He still can't access the shit because everything is all face ID and all that stuff.

46:07

Yeah, but, but that's, but that's the thing. They would still make you unlock it.

46:11

Yeah.

46:11

Even if it's face ID or your fingerprints or whatever it is. See, that's the thing.

46:17

Biometrics are, are secure, but they are, I think under the laws, they are not covered so that,

46:26

so that if you, if they want you to unlock your phone using your fingerprint or your,

46:31

your face ID or whatever of your face scan, you have to do it. If it's a, if it's a password,

46:37

I don't, obviously they're not going to like, but, but under the law or whatever the guidelines are

46:44

and they're very, I don't know, I guess they're open to interpretation, I suppose, but basically

46:51

what they're, what the experts are saying is that if you are going to be crossing the border or

46:57

entering the United States to delete your fingerprints, delete your, your, your facial,

47:04

facial recognition so that you are not logging in with those in that manner and that it's better

47:12

to use a password. Yeah. But even so, they're saying at the borders, anything goes and they

47:21

will still force you to unlock your phone, regardless of the method that you use to unlock

47:26

it. Yeah. And, and, and once they are in, they can do whatever the fuck they want,

47:35

including checking your bank accounts and because yes, they are still, they may be protected with

47:41

a password manager or something like that, but again, they're going to ask you to unlock it all.

47:45

They're going to ask you to unlock your social media accounts. They can ask to unlock your

47:52

signal accounts so that they can read your messages, even though it's a, I mean,

47:57

it, it is a very private and secure application, but hey, if they are on your phone and have the

48:04

app in front of them, obviously they can read whatever they want. At the border, anything goes

48:10

and that's the problem. That's the problem I have and that's why I'm not going fucking down there.

48:15

Yeah. And even once Trump is out, all of this shit is probably still going to remain in place.

48:23

And it's, and again, it's just going to keep getting worse because that's the way some of these

48:27

governments, that's the direction they're going. And I mean, in some ways Canada is following

48:35

behind and it's, it's not any better in some ways. Yeah. Right. So I mean,

48:44

I mean, my, my days of going to the United States are over. Probably. Yeah. Probably. Right. Like,

48:49

like it's, it's certainly while Trump is like, we've already said, I've already said,

48:55

I'm not going down there while he's president. Yeah. And I'm not, and again, it's not only

49:01

because of this stuff, it's everything going on with him. Yeah. He's a fucking knob and,

49:08

you know, but, but this stuff isn't going away. And yeah, I don't know. I mean, my,

49:15

I could say, okay, well, I'm going to Europe instead. And, and, and yes, I would prefer to

49:20

do that. But again, the way some of these countries are going to, it's like, who knows,

49:25

who knows what's going to happen? And, um, you know, if you don't unlock your phone for them,

49:33

obviously only two things can happen. Well, three things. Number one, they're going to detain your

49:37

phone. Yep. And you'll probably never get it back. Number two is they could detain you. Yeah. Fuck.

49:44

And who knows what the fuck's going to happen then. Yep. And, or of course, number three,

49:50

which is probably the best one is, which is no fun after spending all that money to travel,

49:55

but they could just ask you to turn around, go home. Imagine that, hey, fuck, now you're done.

50:00

But that's, that's, that, that's not, that's not stupid talk. That's very realistic.

50:06

Yeah. That's the reality of the situation. Yeah. You got three options. Either fucking give us the

50:10

information, give us the phone with your password, or we get you until you break or you just turn

50:15

around and leave. I mean, they could send you home without your phone. So then you're,

50:20

I mean, that's no good either. Right. So I, you know, still, you know, people say, okay,

50:27

well, the number of people that this is actually happening to, happening to is still very small,

50:33

but the fact that it is happening and it is happening more is pretty scary. And

50:38

will it happen to me? I mean, I mean, I feel I'm taking a chance. Like, like I really do.

50:47

Well, we're all taking a chance. We all are. Yes. Yeah.

50:50

And I don't know what I would do if I was in a position where I tried to go down there

50:55

for a vacation and, and it, and like, what would I do? Yeah, it's tough.

51:03

And that, and, and that's, and I guess that's the biggest problem I have is because I don't

51:07

know what I would do because I'd be very reluctant to hand over my device and unlock it for them.

51:13

What would happen to me? And that all of that is just like, forget it. I'm not even going to risk

51:19

it. I'm not going to do it. You know, at the end of the day, we have nothing to hide, but it's the,

51:25

it's the invasion of privacy. Yes. And that's, and that's what it is. It's the,

51:29

for them flexing your weight for no reason at all. Yes. Just because they can.

51:34

Yeah. And like nothing, not hiding anything, but why do you want to check what I listen to in Apple

51:38

music? Why do you want to check like that? I reposted a video about a dog licking a

51:43

Santa Claus. Like what, what's about. Well, and, and yeah, it's all that, but it's this too. It's

51:50

like, so what that I call Trump a fucking asshole. Like, so what? Like really he's a big boy. Yeah.

51:58

Deal. He shouldn't give it. He should care that some fucking Canadian who, you know, who, who is

52:05

a law abiding a Canadian at that. Why should he fucking care what I think of him? Exactly.

52:13

Like, why does it so fucking matter, you know, to him? Really? Yeah. That's, that's what this is

52:19

about. Why? Why does he have to be this way? Like, like, so what? And that's, and that's why, you

52:26

know, sure. They want to check social media because of, uh, who knows what the, you know,

52:31

terrorists, you know, I think terrorists for the most part now know not to use regular social media

52:36

to, uh, you know, to talk about shit. Whatever they might do. Whatever. Yes. You know, but if

52:42

somebody wants to get into a discussion with somebody else about Donald Trump in the United

52:48

States and they call him a fucking dick, why should it matter to him? So what if Joe Blow

52:55

is talking about me like that? I'm going down there on a vacation, man. I've done nothing else

53:01

wrong. I'm a, I'm, there's nothing, there's no crimes against me. I haven't been in jail. Um,

53:07

why should, so why should you fucking care? Why should you be spending all this time and

53:12

money and resources, uh, on somebody like me? So it's, it just doesn't make it. And have you

53:20

tried scrolling down fucking five years? It doesn't work. Have you tried scrolling down

53:23

six months? You're scrolling for fucking three hours. Like it does not, it gets not easy to

53:29

scroll all that shit all the way down. Like it's, it's a, it's going to take you some work. Like,

53:35

oh man, it's just. Well, I mean, they can, they'll, they, they not only search your phone,

53:40

they probably dump it. Uh, and then maybe they've got the tools on their side that will,

53:46

you know, like AI now, right? Like I'm sure they can use AI to scan things and different

53:53

applications to, you know, to maybe search for a certain information, uh, that'll make it quicker.

53:58

But, but again, yeah, the fact that they're, that they're doing it, uh, yeah, it's just, uh,

54:05

it's, it's ridiculous. It really is. We're getting hosed. Yep. All right. Let's get you going. Uh,

54:13

major, major. Oh, I'm going already. Don't worry about it. Yeah, I'm going. Uh, there's major, uh,

54:18

major sporting news. Uh, the Canucks have traded their captain Quinn Hughes for three people over

54:25

the three Minnesota wild players and a first round draft pick. Yes. The internet lost her

54:30

fucking mind, which is the greatest thing to see. But, uh, oh my God, why sell the team? Like,

54:36

fuck it's a rebuild year, fucking all this shit. So, I mean, I mean, I'm a Canucks fan, but this

54:43

like, I mean, what do you do? You're getting three players for one. Defeat Hughes was a great

54:48

defensive player, obviously capping the team. Who's going to wear the C next? Who knows? Um, but

54:55

just there's nothing you can do. Like it's the, it's sporting, like you can be as pissed off as

55:00

you want. Was it better for the team? Arguably people sad about it. Yes. I mean, whatever,

55:05

even though if you score any goals this year, I don't even know what the stats are. Who cares?

55:08

Canucks are shit in the bed. I think they're the last place. Like they are. It's like team in the

55:13

league right now. Yep. Woo. We're a number last. Like who, who cares? Just let them do what they

55:19

got to do and move on for life. Like fuck. Um, what do you think about this? Well, number one, uh,

55:26

oh no, my wife just bought me a Queen, Quinn Hughes jersey and now he's traded. Uh, that's the

55:30

big story or the big, uh, the big thing I've been hearing people complain about too, right? They

55:35

just got a jersey or he's got a jersey and now he's gone. Right. So the one of the last games

55:40

I went to, I was drunk and I bought a Quinn Hughes jersey. That was two years ago. Yeah. Yeah. Well,

55:48

that was two years ago. That wasn't yesterday. So that wasn't yesterday. It was the black, uh,

55:53

the black skate jersey. Okay. Um, I wanted the Linden one, but they didn't have any,

55:57

okay, I'll take this one. So I got this one. And so, yeah, so I got a Hughes jersey kicking

56:01

around the closet now, but I also have a Luongo jersey, I have a Linden jersey and a Sadine jersey

56:06

kick around. Okay. So see, you're safe with those players that have retired now, right? Yeah. Yeah.

56:11

When you, when you have some young and, and you know what, I might sound hard on him,

56:16

but I guess it's just a business decision. It's a personal decision, right? That he,

56:20

because it sounds like he did not want to stay in Vancouver, not only because the team was not

56:24

playing well, but like he's, he's an American, you know what? So I say, fuck off, get rid of him.

56:30

That's, that's what I say. He's a young fucking punk American kid. And if he wants to play in

56:35

the States, then fuck off, let him go, you know, get something decent in return, which they did.

56:41

They got some, uh, three young kids in a draft pick, a number one draft pick coming up next year,

56:45

I think. And, uh, you know, they're at the bottom of this, they're in the cellar, you know, it's,

56:50

the rebuild is on now for sure. I think they've been trying to avoid the, this, you know, the

56:57

term rebuild or the rebuilding phase. I think they've been trying to use, oh,

57:02

they're rebuilding on the fly. Yeah. Uh, well, it's going to be a full rebuild now for sure.

57:07

And, um, yeah. So I don't like, I don't know, like I'm not, I'm not going to dump on the team.

57:13

You know, it's just, um, I don't know, they have had it pretty tough though, the last couple of

57:18

years. Absolutely. So, you know, first you have JT Miller, who was a young fucking, well, he's not

57:23

young. He's, uh, he's in his early thirties now, I think, but JT Miller is a fucking crybaby. He

57:29

wanted out, so they traded him. Um, you know, now, you know, he's an American, JT Miller is American.

57:35

So now Quinn Hughes is American. He wants to go, um, I mean, you see, so that's, that's the thing

57:43

now, you know, more than ever, you have these players and typically they're American. You have

57:48

these players who don't want to play in Canada and, um, and they, they are even more,

57:56

uh, getting more specific than that. Not only do they want to play, not want to play in Canada,

58:01

but they want to play, let's say on the East coast or in Quinn Hughes' case, he wants to play with

58:07

his two brothers. It's like, well, okay. I don't know. Sure. Maybe some team can swing that somehow,

58:15

but you know, they all have their own contracts, um, with, uh, well, his two brothers do play on

58:20

the same team right now. So, uh, he didn't get traded to that team and he's under contract

58:26

for another year and a half with Minnesota now. Yep. So yes, after that, maybe something can

58:33

happen where all three of them can get together, but you don't see, but that's the thing. Like,

58:37

you know, yes, you do have a contract. Yes. He's a good player now that maybe he's kind of earned

58:43

a, I wouldn't say earn his right, but he, he does have maybe some pull now as to,

58:50

you know, what happens with his future. Well, he's running his stripes. You're just,

58:54

you're just, yeah. Well, yes. And, and, but, but I guess, I guess the thing is now players are now,

59:00

I wouldn't say too powerful. Like they, they have too much say in what goes on, I think,

59:06

especially somebody, he's still young. You know, he's, he did win the Norris trophy a couple years

59:12

ago. That's the best defenseman in the league. He, he's, he is a good player. He's going to help any

59:16

team that he's on. Yeah. But has he won anything yet? Has he really won anything yet? No, he has

59:22

not. And you have these players who, I just, yeah, I don't know, just. He's 26. Is it the arrogance?

59:31

Is it, what is it that makes you think that, you know, it's a team game. What makes you think that

59:39

you're better than anybody else? Really? That's what it comes down to because you could be the

59:44

best player in the world and still end up on a shitty team and lose. Right. It's so, and,

59:49

and when, when that happens, you're just another fucking player. Really in the scheme of things,

59:55

it's all about winning the Stanley cup. And if you don't do it, well, you know, sure,

59:59

there's personal accolades that go along with it, but it's all about winning. And in order to win,

1:00:05

you have to play as a team. And I don't know. I just, I just, you know, it, it's, it happens

1:00:14

more often than not with these American players who, who think they deserve to play in America

1:00:23

with an American team. You're making $9.5 million to fucking. No kidding. Everything's catered for

1:00:31

you. You're told what to eat. You're in the best shape of your life. You're fucking playing

1:00:33

competitive sports. You're fucking worshiped by people. You're a fucking role model. Oh,

1:00:38

I don't want to play in Vancouver. Like all the headlines is he was told Canucks last month. He

1:00:42

wouldn't resign this summer. Like go fuck yourself. You know, I hope one of your brothers knocks you

1:00:48

out next time you're fucking on the ice. You fucking bitch. Like, shut up. Like, like who cares? Just

1:00:53

relax and play the game. It's a privilege for you to be there. You're in the sea. Like you took on

1:00:58

the role. Thank you very much for your fucking service. Get, if you don't want to be here,

1:01:01

get the fuck out. Like, I hope these other guys just take the shit out of you when you're fucking

1:01:06

playing next. But it's just brutal. Like sports is fucked. Like I, it's, it's cool to watch,

1:01:13

but the politics behind, I mean, sports and everything, it's just, it's just ridiculous.

1:01:18

Just play the game. Let's go have some, have some fun and win some fucking games.

1:01:24

At the end of the day for, for us fans, at least it's, it's entertainment, right? Yeah. Yes. Yes.

1:01:30

It is a job for them, but like you said, like it's a well-paying job. Uh, they are doing something

1:01:35

they love. Like, like fuck, suck it up, man. Like it's just, you should be, like you said,

1:01:42

you should be proud to be in a league that is so difficult to, for the most people to, to,

1:01:51

you know, to get a shot at doing. Yeah. It's, it's, you know, most people,

1:01:55

no matter how good you are, some people just don't make it. And, um, you know, if you do just

1:02:02

fucking, you should, you should be proud and you should be thankful and, uh, just fucking have fun

1:02:09

and enjoy it and do the best you can instead of. Enjoy the ride. Yeah. Don't get injured. Yeah.

1:02:14

Exactly. And fucking have some fun. Yeah. Yeah. So he could fuck off. I don't care. And that's for

1:02:20

any fucking sporting event, not just hockey, football players, baseball. Absolutely. Yes.

1:02:26

I agree. No, I agree. It's, uh, it's the same regardless of where you play or what sport you're

1:02:31

in. Oh man. All right. So anyway. Well, let's talk about some happy news. Guns N' Roses released

1:02:38

new music. You listened to these songs? I did. I, I, you know, you know, yes. See, see the thing is

1:02:46

these two songs came from the Chinese democracy era, didn't they?

1:02:50

You know, honestly, that's what I read. That's what I read, which came out. When did that album

1:02:55

come out? Um, like it seems like forever ago. Um, but yes, they re-recorded it with parts with,

1:03:04

um, with Duff and with, um, slash with slash. Um, but they're old songs. Um, I don't know. And,

1:03:14

and this one you're playing, it's nothing great. So this is the better of two. This one's called

1:03:18

nothing. Uh, so Chinese democracy came out November 23rd, 2008. Uh, but yeah, this song,

1:03:25

like, this is cool. This is good solo slash is ripping. It's, it's, it's the better of the songs

1:03:31

they've released in recent history. So I don't mind this song at all. I think it's all right.

1:03:37

The next one, this song, Alice, this song is a fucking piece of shit. Yeah. Um, and you're

1:03:42

expecting more. Your guns and roads, your slash, your fucking Duff, your Axl, you know,

1:03:47

at least the Axl sounds getting the shit. Well, well, he, he does, but again is, are his vocals

1:03:53

from 2008 or whatever, right? Yeah, that's true. It's, uh, because he sounds like shit now. So,

1:04:00

yeah, I don't know. Are you going to the concert, uh, coming up? They're playing, uh, BC place. When

1:04:05

are they playing? Um, August 29th. See the only good cool thing about the show is that they're

1:04:11

playing with the black crows. Yeah. See that's cool. But anyway, like, I don't know, like I,

1:04:18

I haven't looked at tickets because they're probably not cheap. And I don't,

1:04:22

if I go away, it would be to see the black crows and I just don't think I want to spend the money.

1:04:26

So, I mean, I saw the, the first reunion gig that they did, um, went down with Sean Byrne,

1:04:34

it was 2015, whatever the hell it was. And we went down to Seattle and saw that gig. Yeah.

1:04:40

And that was fucking awesome. Um, so I mean, I appreciate that, but they, the cool thing about

1:04:48

this show is they got a lot of weird bands playing opening for them. So they got the black crows who

1:04:52

were opening the Vancouver gig. They got ice cube opening. They got public enemy opening. They got

1:04:58

pierced the veil opening and they got the barbarians of California also opening. So those are great

1:05:03

opening acts for, depending on where you're catching them throughout, uh, throughout the thing.

1:05:07

But am I going predict? Probably not because it is a work day for me. And, uh, they've really

1:05:15

flexing on their time off and what we're getting off for, uh, um, and how we book time off and

1:05:22

stuff coming up. So, okay. Yeah. It's, uh, it's, uh, it's a Saturday. It's, it's tough,

1:05:28

but ACDC also got announced. Yeah. But not, not in Vancouver. Did they, is there, oh, really a

1:05:35

Vancouver date now? Thursday, August 13th at BC place again. Oh, okay. But again, it's the same

1:05:41

show that was here last year. It was a pretty reckless opening. So is it the exact same show?

1:05:45

Is it going to be the exact same thing? I missed that show last time. So maybe I'll check it out

1:05:51

this time. I mean, you're still watching ACDC videos and it's funny that ACDC and, um,

1:05:56

GNR playing cause, uh, Axel had that short stint with ACDC when it was on lead vocals. Yeah.

1:06:02

Uh, but I would rather see the ACDC gig over the, uh, GNR gig. Oh, so, so would I, for sure. Not

1:06:08

that I'm going to go. See, I thought, I know that ACDC, there's a Montreal date. I think Quebec

1:06:14

city dates. And that was obviously just the first announcements because I mean, there was no Vancouver

1:06:19

dates at that time. So I figured, well, not that I was seriously just a guy I work with. He lives

1:06:25

in Montreal and he's got his tickets right away. He's a big fan. Um, he, uh, yeah, he said, yeah,

1:06:32

you should come down to Montreal, go to the show and stuff like that. So I didn't really entertain

1:06:36

it seriously, but I mean, yeah, it would be cool to go to Montreal, just, you know, to go there

1:06:43

again. Cause I was there probably 25 years ago or something. Yeah. Um, but, but yeah, so I didn't

1:06:50

know that they were going to continue adding dates and stuff and that there was a Vancouver date

1:06:55

now. So I guess that's cool. I don't know if I still don't know that I go, but I don't know.

1:07:00

Yeah. August 13th, uh, BC place and the Montreal date is a September 12th. Yeah. Okay. So that's

1:07:09

just as cool. Okay. Uh, they got, uh, they get an Edmonton and a Vancouver date. So yeah. Okay.

1:07:16

That's cool. So yeah, that might be, uh, that might be in the cards, I think. Yeah. Uh,

1:07:22

it's a day off for me. So I don't have to worry about that shit. And, uh,

1:07:26

are tickets on sale yet? Oh yeah. Yep. Oh, they are. Yeah. They went on, uh, last couple,

1:07:31

I don't know, two weeks ago, I think. Oh wow. Like where the fuck was I? I thought I checked

1:07:36

even back then there was no Vancouver date. That's why I thought they just maybe announced it then.

1:07:40

You're probably just busy. You're probably just busy. Okay. Maybe while I have been for sure.

1:07:46

Oh, a hundred percent. Um, I can pull it up here super quick. Do you have anything else lined up

1:07:51

for the year? I know you got the Rush show. Did you buy Keithmas... is now sold out?

1:07:56

Yeah, I know Keithmas. Uh, yeah. Well, I told you, I got Rush tickets, but that show is not until

1:08:01

December 15th. That's a year away, a year away tomorrow, December 15th. Yeah. Yeah. Crazy.

1:08:07

I've been there. That's it. That's it. No other, uh, no other tickets at this time. So, um,

1:08:15

Hey, we were talking about shows last time though. And I mentioned, we went to The Who

1:08:20

and I mentioned, did I mention, I did mention The Who didn't I? I'm sure I did.

1:08:24

But the other one in there was, uh, Neil Young. We did end up seeing Neil Young at, um,

1:08:29

at Deer Lake. Yes. Yeah. Was it fucking everything you thought it would be? And I didn't

1:08:34

think I talked about it or mentioned it. Um, it was pretty good. It was, it was really good.

1:08:39

Like it would have been nice to see him with Crazy Horse. Like that was the tour that was planned

1:08:44

last year. They got canceled because somebody was sick somewhere along the way. Yeah. Um, uh,

1:08:51

let's see. So, uh, so yeah, so this was a different band and they're all great musicians,

1:08:57

but they played, he played Neil Young music across the board, like all from, from the early days with,

1:09:05

with, um, with Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, you know, his solo stuff, some stuff with Crazy

1:09:12

Horse. Did they even have a Buffalo Springfield song in there? Oh shit. I don't know. Anyways,

1:09:18

like he, it was, he played music from across all of the different decades. And, uh, uh, so yeah,

1:09:25

so it was pretty cool. Uh, and it was a good show. I mean, I, I don't know, Deer Lake Park is the,

1:09:34

the only thing is about the show is that they do not have big screen set up. And I'm, and I'm

1:09:39

wondering, is that normal for, for that place? Cause because I mean, it's hard to, it's hard

1:09:47

to see when you're at the back. Yeah. I remember seeing, um, oh God, is that me? That's me. I don't

1:09:54

know. Mute, mute everything. Um, like I've only seen a handful. I saw the cure in there. We did a

1:10:01

couple of Foxfests in there. I saw Jack White, which is the fucking worst show I've ever seen.

1:10:06

Um, and something else, but yeah, I actually don't like the venue. It's hard to get in and

1:10:12

out of the place. It's, it's very difficult. So I mean, the Neil Young show would have been

1:10:17

fucking awesome, but yeah. Uh, it sounds like it was a good set. It was, it was pretty good,

1:10:23

but, but yes, my only complaint was that they, I mean, they have, I mean, they don't have shows

1:10:30

there all the time. I know that, but how hard is it to, you've got your stage set up already,

1:10:35

you know, have at least the, the place wired for, you know, a couple of screens on each side,

1:10:40

uh, or one on each side, right? So that people can see, cause that's, that was my own complaint.

1:10:45

It sounded great, but if you're not right up front, you can't see shit.

1:10:49

And that's the only kind of amphitheater kind of venue that we got, but there are building

1:10:54

that new one by the PNE. Have you seen that shit ripping around? No, I haven't seen it recently

1:11:00

at all. No, that's a big deal too. That's a big deal. How many people is that going to hold?

1:11:05

Like 10,000, I think. So that's going to bring, hopefully that's going to bring a lot more shows

1:11:09

up this way because these bands can't fill quite fill a Rogers Arena or whatever it is,

1:11:15

but they can definitely fill that place. It's like a bigger, you know, like the Orpheum and

1:11:19

Queen E are almost too small for it, but you kind of move into this place. It kind of upgrades you.

1:11:24

So it's kind of like, you know, you're just adding the extra venue and they're putting a

1:11:27

lot of time in the engineering and stuff and behind like what they're doing to it,

1:11:32

because they had the preliminary like structure and blueprints built, but the engineers came,

1:11:37

Hey, no, we can change it like this, but it's going to cost you X amount of dollars. So they're

1:11:41

actually doing it right. Like it looks cool. It's as awesome like wood sculpture, acoustically tuned,

1:11:48

like it looks fucking cool. So hopefully they get a good opening band to open that night up

1:11:53

and it's a good night and doesn't fuck too much shit up. But it looks, it looks, I hope it,

1:12:01

it obviously replaced the Forum and the Forum honestly, isn't that bad of a space to see a

1:12:07

lot of music anymore. Like I saw, what did I see when they recently, I saw Trivium in there

1:12:12

with Bullet For My Valentine. It was a couple of months ago and I saw a Spiritbox in there

1:12:16

a couple of months ago and it sounded, the room sounds good, like no complaints from where I was.

1:12:21

Yeah. And I bought something else for there. What's coming up? Oh, Lamb of God are

1:12:26

playing in Vancouver, April the first. So I bought tickets for that.

1:12:30

Okay. Maybe you should join us for that one. It's a Hobson. Hobson will be joining me for that one.

1:12:37

When is, when is that again? It's a Wednesday, April the first. Yeah. Okay. Put it on your

1:12:42

calendar, put it on your calendar. I'll put it on the calendar. I'll let you know. Yeah. But this

1:12:47

amphitheater down at the PNE, so it is an indoor, indoor venue then, is that what it is? No,

1:12:55

it's outdoors. It's all outdoors. It is outdoors. Yeah. Okay. So that's what I thought. It was,

1:12:58

it was going to be all outdoors, but the way you were talking, I wasn't sure if they were.

1:13:04

It's kind of like, remember last time where the PNE was, but it's kind of like behind the corkscrew

1:13:10

or whatever the hell it's now called. Okay. So it's all behind there. If you, you know, if you got,

1:13:14

if it's, I was going to say, Hey, it's a nice sunny day, but we're not going to get a sunny day

1:13:18

till like March. So, um, next time we're out and about, just, uh, go down. It's cool area out that

1:13:24

way. This is cool. The PNE park has actually a pretty good walk. So yeah. Uh, walk down there.

1:13:30

Hopefully you can see, so it's all boarded up, but you can see the big, awesome wood roof that

1:13:34

they're building. So when's it supposed to be done? Uh, they're projecting next summer. Okay.

1:13:40

So cool. We'll see. We'll see. All right. All right. Do you have any other shows lined up?

1:13:47

No, nothing, nothing lined up at all. Absolutely nothing. And, um, oh, we did see Rich Hope. Uh,

1:13:53

that's, that's a show we saw a couple of weeks ago too. Rich, Rich Hope released a live album.

1:13:59

Uh, if you don't know, Rich Hope is a local guy. Uh, pretty cool. Play some good tunes. Awesome on

1:14:05

guitar. I've known Rich for a good 20 plus years in some of the bands that he's and music that

1:14:12

he's played. Um, so yeah, he just, he recorded a live album earlier this year, I think at the Anza

1:14:19

Club. Sweet. So, uh, he's, uh, this was an album release party at a venue called down in the East

1:14:28

side. It's just a small place. It was an old auto shop. In fact, it's called Green Auto,

1:14:34

Green Auto. Yeah. Yeah. So that seems like a cool little place. Uh, I, you know what I miss

1:14:40

little places like that. I really do. I, you know, cause you had venues like the Starfish Club or

1:14:46

the Starfish Room, uh, the Piccadilly Pub, like all of these smaller places. This place is even

1:14:53

smaller. Really. It's, it's like, uh, it is like, uh, having a show out in your back garage. Uh,

1:15:00

yeah. Like it's not very big at all. Um, yeah. So we did see that, uh, picked up the album of course.

1:15:08

So, but that was, it was a pretty good show. He put on it. He always, we always have a good time

1:15:12

with him. Of course he is playing Keithmas coming up, but actually Keithmas might've been

1:15:17

last night. I'm not sure. Uh, Oh, fuck. I think so. Not again. I wasn't planning on going anyway,

1:15:22

but yeah, Keithmas was last night. Um, yeah. So, uh, so that was pretty cool. I think the only

1:15:29

disappointing thing about his, his album, which I mean, it sounds great. He recorded the album, um,

1:15:36

the whole show. There's only nine songs on it. I guess, I guess, I guess I'm, and maybe there's

1:15:41

plans, but I guess I'm thinking, well, shit, do you, why not record a double album or release

1:15:46

a double album? Because you probably have all this material, you know, cause they were trying,

1:15:51

they were struggling with what to put on the album. Right. So, yeah. Uh, so there's only

1:15:56

nine songs. It's like, yeah, I'm sure you got enough stuff for a double album. Why not just do it?

1:16:01

But whatever. That's me being greedy, I guess, cause it was, uh, yeah. So it's pretty cool.

1:16:07

So I know other shows. Uh, you mentioned Green Auto. So right across the street from Green Auto

1:16:12

was the Blue Light Studio where our buddy Todd Hancock throws his Toddcast Podcast sessions.

1:16:17

Okay. And I was there on Friday night and Steven and the Evens were there.

1:16:22

Steven and the Evens. That's funny. So do you know who that is? So that's the,

1:16:26

the singer from the Odds. So it's sort of the Odds. It's now Steven and the Evens. So it's him in a

1:16:33

three piece. It was fucking awesome. They play a bunch of Odds stuff. It was a, it was actually a,

1:16:39

really a great night. I was there helping him out on Friday night. So, um, he's got a lot of

1:16:44

cool shit happening. Um, so next time I'm going to reach out to him and head one of those shows.

1:16:50

They're cool. He had a fucking sweet metal band there maybe three months ago. I forget what the

1:16:54

fuck they were called, but that's cool. I didn't know he was still doing that. So

1:16:57

yeah. All right. Fuck it. I wish we could get into something like that. There is fucking whatever

1:17:02

episode, but such a, it just brings everybody out together for a lot of night of live music.

1:17:06

And we were fucking big concert music heads. So for sure sounds good, but I do want to touch on

1:17:13

this. Uh, this whole it's Christmas time, all the shit, all the rap stuff. You've got the

1:17:18

Cineclub rap, you've got Spotify rap, you got stuff, but you have this great, uh,

1:17:24

this great, this great Metal Injection, put it out the Spotify rap countered by activists.

1:17:29

I laughed and I laughed at this stuff. Yeah. Pretty, uh, it is pretty funny now how,

1:17:37

how everybody was looking forward to it. And some people probably still do.

1:17:43

Yeah. How, how a lot of people have turned against Spotify now. So,

1:17:47

uh, it's just, it's just pretty funny. Yeah. It's good for a chuckle.

1:17:51

Yeah. It's, I thought that was great. And you're now on Tidal, right?

1:17:55

Yes. I use Tidal exclusively in addition to my, my own library, of course. Uh, I sometimes wonder,

1:18:04

I sometimes wonder why I pay for it. Um, because I don't use it all that often.

1:18:10

Most times I'm here at home or even when I'm on the road, I'll, I'll fire up Plex or,

1:18:15

or I've got another platform I'm using now, um, or trying to use more. Uh, yeah,

1:18:22

I'll just listen to my own stuff, right? Yeah. So I don't know. I don't know. Uh, we'll see.

1:18:28

It's the, the convenience of having it at the tip of your finger.

1:18:31

Yeah. And that's it. Like if you're on about for whatever night, Thursday or a Friday,

1:18:36

you didn't get a chance to listen, new music on the Fridays is always a big one for me.

1:18:40

Seeing what's coming out there, ripping through all the shit. Uh, but did you see that Spotify

1:18:44

added flac? Well, they've been talking about it for a while. So it's finally happened then

1:18:49

has it because it took seem to like, it took a long time for them to get their shit together.

1:18:54

But apparently it's not great. Like it's being trashed. You know, it's, it's

1:18:58

quote unquote flac flac, but it's not really flac, which is high for those of us who don't

1:19:03

know what flac is. It's high audio or high bit rate streaming. So you get better,

1:19:10

what is it? Fidelity. Yeah. Well, how do you explain the flac too? Let's, let's Google it.

1:19:14

How do you explain it? Yeah. It's lossless audio basically. Yeah. There's no,

1:19:20

I mean, I think it's got its own compression, but it's still considered lossless,

1:19:25

you know, as opposed to an MP3, which is lossy and it's been heavily compressed. Right. So.

1:19:33

Uh, flac. Yeah, you're right. You did. A flac is a lossless audio compression format. Yeah.

1:19:38

Unlike formats as MP3s, which use lossy compression. Yeah. Uh, but that's okay.

1:19:45

You had also found that great article about Alice in Chains. Peta is asking Alice in Chains to

1:19:50

change their name for awareness for abused elephants. I thought that was kind of a cool story.

1:19:55

Yeah. I'm, I'm wondering if they, uh, are actually going to do it because I think it's,

1:20:00

I think it's a great idea. Like, I don't know, I don't know if Jerry and, and, and the rest of

1:20:06

the guys, I don't know how they feel about, uh, animal cruelty and animal rights and all that

1:20:12

sort of stuff, animal abuse. But I, I mean, I think it's, uh, I, I don't know how it would

1:20:20

tarnish who they are. I mean, because they're probably concerned about that, but I don't know

1:20:25

how, I don't know how it would harm them. It's a, it's an easy fucking fix. You acknowledge it, you

1:20:32

share, reshare a couple of links, you make a cool shirt and you fucking move on through life.

1:20:36

Exactly.

1:20:37

It's, you get, you get some press from Peta. So if you don't know the story, Peta is currently

1:20:42

trying to rescue Betty, the 56 year old disabled elephant who was being forced to perform roughly

1:20:48

300 circus shows a year. To raise awareness, Peta has requested Alice in Chains to change

1:20:53

their name on social media for a month to Betty in Chains.

1:20:55

Yeah.

1:20:56

Like it's really easy. That's, that's, I don't know if they changed their name on the socials

1:21:00

because this is going to fuck up a lot of shit, but get some new logos printed,

1:21:04

get some shirts made and let's fucking go. Uh, it's just like when, uh, black Sabbath did

1:21:09

the black lives matter in the, uh, in the, uh, masters of reality format.

1:21:15

Exactly.

1:21:16

Text like that was fucking cool. I still regret not buying one of those shirts.

1:21:19

Yeah. I was, I was going to bring that up too. It's exactly the same. I mean, here's your,

1:21:23

one of your iconic albums.

1:21:25

Yeah.

1:21:26

And you're using the same style and font and everything for the, for that title,

1:21:31

for black lives matter. And, and it's, how is this? Yeah. It's not really that,

1:21:35

not that much different. So I, I, I, I'm, I'm wondering if they're do it, if they're going

1:21:41

to do it. Um, I can't remember. Does it say in the story that there is a, not a petition,

1:21:47

but say, is there something here that people can kind of hop on board here to try and get

1:21:52

the Alice in Chains to do it? I don't, I don't think so.

1:21:55

I just don't think, uh, because it's Christmas, I think, like, hopefully the guys are cool.

1:21:59

Like, I think they're cool enough. We've had the opportunity to see them and talk to them

1:22:02

a couple of times in their musical careers. I think, I think it's gotta be on the radar

1:22:07

and I will fuck, at least I hope so because they're not fucking living under a rock and

1:22:11

Algeria is on tour promoting that album. And, um, they did that thing for Sabbath or so,

1:22:17

not Sabbath. Oh yeah. For Sabbath and Ozzy a little while back. So they are,

1:22:21

they're, they're fingers on the pulse. I hope it's gotten to them,

1:22:23

but the easiest thing to do was do that. Um, that's just the Alice in Chains, the dog album

1:22:29

record, right? Just put the elephant on there and fucking just go, you know what I mean? Like just

1:22:35

let's have some fun boys. Have some fun. That's it. That's all I ask. Will it get to them? Who

1:22:40

knows? But, uh, I hope it has. And I hope they're working on something. That's yeah. I'm a big,

1:22:45

we're both big. We've traveled like one of the last times I guess you were in the States, Alice

1:22:49

in Chains. Yeah. Well, for certainly for a show anyways, that could have been, I mean,

1:22:54

I mean, a Judas Priest last year, of course, but, uh, but yeah, I don't know. That seems like it

1:23:02

was quite a while ago already when we saw that one. Yeah, fuck. I remember the 20, I don't remember

1:23:07

2018, maybe 2017. Something like that. Yes, for sure. Yeah. 17, 18. Jesus. Yeah. All right. Um,

1:23:15

let's talk tunes. What are you listening to this week? I know I'm going to segue to you here

1:23:20

cause I have fucking 27 windows open. I don't know where my shit is.

1:23:26

Hey, I'm not, uh, I'm not much different from you. So, but I do, I do have something up here.

1:23:30

You know, this, this one, I just, uh, I just discovered this and I listened to the album a

1:23:35

little bit and the whole album is really good. Uh, it's a band called Messa. I know, I know very

1:23:41

little about them. Honestly, this just, uh, this just, just popped up somewhere and it's, um,

1:23:48

I'm trying to get it going here now. Is it playing? Here we go. Uh, it's a, it's a great

1:23:55

tune. It's a heavier, I don't know, is this a, if it's a doom metal type sound to it, uh, a song

1:24:04

called The Dress. It's from their new album. Uh, it came out earlier this year from their new album,

1:24:10

The Spin, uh, on Metal Blade Records, but it's, it's really cool. It's a, yeah, I love this stuff. So,

1:24:20

uh, you can hear it on your side, right? Oh yeah. Yeah. Just wanted to make sure

1:24:23

everything's working okay. Um, yeah, we're rolling. So, so yeah, this is really cool. And, and you know,

1:24:30

I, I did put a kind of a short list of, uh, some, some of my favourite albums. I wouldn't say they're

1:24:36

top albums of, uh, 2025. And I know we try and do this every year. Yeah, we'll get that done next

1:24:42

show for sure. Okay. Yeah. So this, this, this was up there. I really liked this, uh, what I've

1:24:47

listened to the album and stuff. And of course, because I don't know really who they are, I

1:24:50

haven't checked out any of their other stuff. So, um, but yeah, it's, um, it, uh, I mean, let's,

1:25:00

I'll just jump ahead a little bit because it kind of rocks pretty good at times. It's,

1:25:04

you know, this was a cool tune. You know, usually I'm like, I, I open your music like

1:25:08

fucking nine minutes, which is fine, which is fine, but they really, it's really got to grab

1:25:15

you for the nine minutes. And this song definitely grabs you for the nine minutes. It's, it was really

1:25:20

fucking cool. Yeah. It's funny. You've got some horns in there, but it's, but it's a heavy too.

1:25:25

Right. So yeah. Yeah. Pretty cool. Um, and actually, I mean, I, there's lots of music out

1:25:32

there always, but I only have two tunes for you this year. Um, or the show or for this year,

1:25:39

the show. Yes. Uh, this is, um, this is, uh, Rick Emmett and Phil X performing a classic

1:25:47

tune from Triumph. I guess there was some award show, the Canadian songwriters hall of fame.

1:25:54

Yeah. I, I know it's, I know, um, that, uh, Todd Kearns got this, um, shortly after we chatted

1:26:03

with them, whenever the fuck that was. So yeah, they're, they got it, but this performance was

1:26:08

fucking cool. Yeah. It's a, it's a great, it's a great song, but yeah, really cool performance.

1:26:13

Um, it's too bad Rick's guitar wasn't turned up a little bit more for the recording or for the mix,

1:26:19

but, um, obviously he's a great, a great guitarist. It's a cool song. Uh, this is pretty

1:26:25

cool. Now, now Phil X is, he's Canadian, but he, he's the one who replaced Richie Sambora for, um,

1:26:34

Bon Jovi. Is that correct? Oh fuck. I don't know. Cause I know like when the, like when the eighties,

1:26:40

when they're touring nonstop, right? I know this was, this was, uh, well this, he's, he's been

1:26:48

Bon Jovi's guitarist for a number of years now. Like, like Richie Sambora left in like what,

1:26:53

2014, like, like 10 years ago anyway, right? Yeah, 2016. Yeah, you're exactly right. So I think

1:27:00

Phil X, well, yeah, brought them in and he fit in great into, into that, into the band. And, um,

1:27:09

so that's where I know Phil X from, but I think he's done some other stuff too. Like,

1:27:13

wasn't he doing some solo stuff before that or? I can't remember, but. Did he play in Megadeth?

1:27:19

Like Phil plays in Megadeth. Yeah, exactly. Did he, are you serious? Or did he, no, he didn't play

1:27:26

in Megadeth. He didn't. Okay. He did Triumph. His one that I really kind of came on the radar was

1:27:32

for Tommy Lee's project, Methods of Mayhem. Remember that? Okay. Yes. Yes, I do. Yeah.

1:27:37

Because there was some ripping solos in that. I'm like, who the fuck is this guy? Yeah. It was Phil

1:27:41

X. Yeah. But yeah, you're right. He joined, um, you replaced Richie Sambora in 2016. Yeah.

1:27:52

Not, so not that Bon Jovi's touring anymore because I think his voice is fucked, but.

1:27:56

No, he's back. Jovi's back, baby. Oh, is he? He's got a stint at Madison Square Garden

1:28:03

and, um. Like full band? Full band and everything. Oh, wow. Okay. And there was something else. I

1:28:10

remember a friend of mine's, um, big Jovi fan, big, Bon Jovi fan. He's got a shit ton of dates

1:28:17

coming up. Oh, wow. Okay. Um, of course I can't log into it. It's posted on Instagram.

1:28:24

I don't, people use websites anymore, man. Um, but yeah, he's got a, he's got a stint of dates

1:28:30

coming up. I think, um, I think Triumph has officially, um, gotten together here too.

1:28:39

I think there's an official 2026 reunion tour coming up. Oh. Uh, with, with all three of the

1:28:46

same guys, right? So, um, I don't know what the story is and when and where, where they're going

1:28:52

to play and, oh, let's see. We have some dates here real quick. Um, yes, starting in April,

1:29:00

they're starting here in Canada. It's their 50th anniversary tour. Awesome. So I see, I do not see

1:29:07

a Vancouver date, which is kind of odd because they're playing all across Canada, starting in

1:29:11

Ontario. They go out to the Atlantic, then all the way back to Edmonton and Calgary.

1:29:17

No Vancouver. They're down to the States after that. That's kind of, kind of odd.

1:29:24

Anyways, uh, I, I was a big Triumph fan way back in the late seventies. In fact, I think

1:29:33

Triumph was one of my, if not the very first show that I saw. Oh, fuck. This would have been

1:29:40

like 1979 or yeah. See, that's how fucking old I am. Um, I saw them, I saw them a few times way back

1:29:50

then. And I think that that was probably, Triumph was probably my first show ever. Oh shit. So yeah,

1:29:58

so yeah, big fan. Wow. Fuck. My first show ever was Kiss. Yeah. Well, that's a, uh, well, I think

1:30:05

I've, I think you've told that before and I think I've said this before. I wanted to see Kiss. This

1:30:11

would have been 1976, 77, uh, maybe 78. Um, I can't remember. They were touring with Cheap Trick.

1:30:21

Cheap Trick was opening for Kiss. I wanted to go so bad and, uh, my parents wouldn't let me.

1:30:27

Sons of bitches. Yeah. Cause well, cause it's, it's in Cal, it's in Calgary, right? I'm living in

1:30:31

Canmore. Uh, who's going to drive me? How am I going to get there? Uh, they, they aren't going

1:30:37

to go to the show with me obviously. And, uh, there's nobody else to go with. So, and I was

1:30:42

too young. So at least in their minds, I was too young. We're too young for this stuff. We're too

1:30:47

young. Yeah. But, uh, yeah, cause that would have been cool. Kiss and Cheap Trick. Definitely check

1:30:53

out the video and Steven, uh, post that on our webpage at theoldman.ca. Holy shit. I remember.

1:30:59

theoldman.ca. That's right. Um. Tough getting used to that I think, eh? Oh, it's, it's not bad.

1:31:05

I remember throwing some stuff around, but that actually just sticks. It feels, it feels good off

1:31:09

the tongue. Yeah, it does. Um, for those of us who care about what John Bon Jovi were doing,

1:31:15

they're doing a bunch of dates at Madison Square Garden from July 7th to the 26th.

1:31:21

Then they go to the UK for four dates and that's it. They're doing, uh, two in Dublin and two at

1:31:28

Wembley Stadium in London. Oh, cool. Yeah. Those are, those will be some big shows.

1:31:34

If you care about Bon Jovi, of course. Yes. Did you ever see him?

1:31:37

I saw Bon Jovi. It would have been the mid nineties and, uh, it was probably one of the worst shows

1:31:44

I've seen in my life. Oh, fuck. Yeah. It was, I, I, I, I, I, I can't forget that. It was,

1:31:54

I did not enjoy myself and I think it was because of, did they sound like shit? Yeah, fuck. Yeah.

1:32:02

Like, I don't know. You know, he, he's had problems with his voice for many years.

1:32:06

I don't know if he had problems way back then. So the nineties, like the mid nineties. So that's

1:32:11

would have been, how long ago is that? That's 30 years ago, right? Yeah. Um, you know, I don't know

1:32:17

if he had experienced trouble back then or not, but for whatever reason, uh, it just sounded like

1:32:22

shit. And I think I went because some of the guys I was working with at the time, they had had some

1:32:28

tickets or I don't know. I decided to go anyways and, uh, kind of wondering why I did. So that's

1:32:37

the only time I've seen Bon Jovi. I saw him, uh, fuck it would have been 2008 at Roger's Arena.

1:32:46

They released a new album or some shit. Yeah. And they're like, we're going to do something

1:32:49

I've never done before. They played the album from front to back. Oh yeah. I was like, what the fuck

1:32:55

is this? And, uh, and then after they did the encore, then they did all the hits. Yeah. You

1:33:01

know, they did, uh, you know, You Give Love a Bad Name, Runaway, Bad Medicine, Dead or Alive,

1:33:07

Have a Nice Day, Living on a Prayer, all that stuff. They just went bang, bang, bang, bang, bang.

1:33:11

It just kind of punches you in the face. They were like seven fucking power things. And then,

1:33:16

but I remember they covered a Bruce Springsteen song somewhere in there.

1:33:19

Oh yeah. Um, and I thought that was fucking cool, but anyways, uh, enough Jovi talk. Uh,

1:33:27

what am I spending this week? I am rocking some local stuff. Band called In Our Name. Um,

1:33:33

I don't know if you remember the local band Quartered. Um, but this is the lead singer

1:33:41

from Quartered. His name's Gregory. Maybe I'll send you the link. He is actually unfortunately

1:33:46

facing cancer, uh, spinal cancer. So no one really knew what was going on, but he's been silently

1:33:53

dealing with this, uh, for a little while. So there was a GoFundMe set up and everyone's

1:33:58

like, what are you doing? No one's heard from him in a couple of years and he's been, um,

1:34:05

suddenly fighting this battle. So obviously recording some new music during that time when

1:34:09

he was feeling better, but yeah, he was, uh, fighting spinal cancer. But, uh, then he's like,

1:34:15

what are you doing for music? And he goes, well, this is the new stuff. And here's the taste of

1:34:19

the new music. Um, did you get a chance to listen to these tunes? Did you enjoy this up your alley?

1:34:27

Yeah, I didn't, I didn't mind them. I didn't know. I've never heard this of them before,

1:34:31

so I didn't even know that they were local or anything like that. So yeah, sounds okay.

1:34:35

Cool stuff. Yeah. Um, so yeah, uh, In Our Name, Everlasting Glaze or Everlasting Gaze is the song.

1:34:43

Yeah. Cool stuff. Cool stuff. Yeah, right on. Uh, found some blues music. I do love me some blues.

1:34:49

Uh, this is Jonathan Boogie Long, uh, album came out, uh, November 14th, uh, fucking great stuff.

1:34:59

Sounds like whatever Gary Clark Jr. Government Mule, that kind of stuff, but fuck love this shit.

1:35:06

Fucking guys is the big, he kind of looks like a younger Chris Stapleton. Okay. But, uh, it looks

1:35:13

like he's playing all the instruments doing this thing, but cool little blues song. What'd you think

1:35:18

of this? Yeah, I don't mind. Uh, Hey, I love the blues too. I mean, that's where it all came from,

1:35:23

or at least the music we listened to the most of it. It was heavily influenced by,

1:35:28

you know, a lot of the old blues and, uh, I, I love the name Jonathan Boogie Long. Yeah. Yeah.

1:35:34

So that's no, that's a cool, cool tune. Yeah. Add this on the playlist. The album, I have the

1:35:39

album acquired. I haven't actually listened to it yet. Okay. Right on. I'll check it out.

1:35:45

Should be good. And, uh, Canadian boys Finger Eleven released a new album. I think about them almost

1:35:51

a month ago now. This is, is one of the tracks off it. I think it's like track 10, but yeah,

1:35:57

given this album, you know, we're trying to come in. I was actually, you know, I had the list in

1:36:01

the back of my mind, what albums made the best albums of the year. And this is going to be on

1:36:05

my list for sure. New Finger Eleven, they released that song a little while back with the lead singer

1:36:10

from Filter, uh, with John and Patrick, Patrick, Jonathan, what the fuck's Patrick? Um,

1:36:16

Flint, Patrick, Patrick Flint. No, something Patrick, Patrick, Patrick, Patrick, Robert's

1:36:24

his last name is Patrick. Um, why can't I remember? Yeah. Oh,

1:36:28

fuck Patrick, Patrick, Richard, Patrick, Patrick. There you go. Um, they're doing so, uh,

1:36:34

they just came through town with, um, Tea Party and Headstones. Yeah. That's what I

1:36:39

thought they were touring or had been here recently or were going to be here coming up

1:36:44

or something. Yeah. Okay. And then they just announced a tour with, uh, a world tour with,

1:36:50

uh, Three Days Grace. Okay. Cool. Uh, so that'll be good for these boys, uh, get a little more

1:36:56

recognition, but, uh, yeah, great. Good stuff from, uh, local Canadian boys. And they did a bunch of

1:37:02

CFOX stuff with us in the past. Did you, uh, are you a fan and did you like the song?

1:37:07

I didn't mind the song. I, I, I, I'm not, I've never listened to them much, to be honest with

1:37:11

you. So, and, and not for any reason, it's not like I don't like them or anything. I just don't know,

1:37:18

but I really gave him a, gave him a chance. So, but yeah, it was a decent, it's a decent track.

1:37:22

So yeah, uh, quintessential rock is The Greyest of Blue Skies by Finger Eleven. Fuck it. I was,

1:37:27

I listened to that album 10 billion times. Like that's, that's quintessential music for me growing

1:37:33

up. Cool. Something wrong. So that's that. Uh, you, uh, you watch anything interesting this week?

1:37:39

Yeah. I want to point out to have been watching, trying to watch quite a bit. I want to point out

1:37:43

a couple of things. As you know, you know, we've got the new TV. Uh, I don't think, you know,

1:37:49

that I ended up purchasing some surrounds for my soundbar. Did I, I don't think I talked about,

1:37:55

did I talk about it last time? Uh, but I didn't know you got them. So how does that sound?

1:37:59

That's right. It was on the, on the list because we were talking about it for Black Friday. So

1:38:03

that was a Black Friday purchase. Yes. Um, yeah, yeah, it adds, it sounds, it sounds amazing.

1:38:12

And, and some of the movies that I watched, um, so there's been some TV and stuff like that,

1:38:18

but a couple of movies, so not only for audio, but all, but just the overall, um, HDR experience

1:38:27

with, with Dolby, uh, Atmos, uh, sound, some of the stuff that I've been watching

1:38:33

includes, uh, Queen walks, Queen Rocks, Montreal or Queen Rock Montreal.

1:38:39

So that, that was a performance by Queen 1981. I believe they're kind of at their highlight of

1:38:44

their career. Um, they played Montreal. This footage has been out there for a long time in

1:38:49

various formats, but they, um, I think they did a 4k restoration with Dolby Vision that,

1:38:57

that was released last year. Um, I would have to say, and, and obviously I've watched a lot of

1:39:03

concert videos, a concert footage, there's lots of movies out there, still some I want to see.

1:39:09

I would have to say so far this performance in this format is one of the best shows I've ever

1:39:16

watched. Oh, the visual and audio is just so amazing watching it in HDR with incredible sound.

1:39:25

It's a great performance as it is, but to watch it in 4k HDR with Dolby Vision is just, uh,

1:39:33

just, oh, it's just amazing. Yeah. Yeah. It's really cool. So that I wanted to point out The

1:39:39

Last Waltz. I also watched recently, of course, it's about, uh, 1977 Martin Scorsese film about,

1:39:46

I guess I think it was their last show by The Band, right? When they, uh, so they do sit around

1:39:51

and talk about different things. Um, but the show itself is great because they bring in all these

1:39:57

guests and stuff during the performance. And it would have been really cool to see that show

1:40:01

actually way back, way back in 19, whenever, whenever it was recorded. Um, but that looks good

1:40:07

and it sounds great again, HDR and Dolby Atmos, two, two great, a hundred percent two great concert

1:40:13

films. Um, two regular movies. So again, these are not new. One is called Suspiria. It's an old

1:40:22

Italian horror film from 1977. It recently had a 4k restoration, um, upgrade. The colours in that

1:40:33

show. Just, just amazing. Just the, the reds and the blues and the yellows and greens. If, uh, it's

1:40:39

a, it's a, it's a classic horror flick. Um, so, so check that out if you haven't seen it, whether

1:40:46

it's in 4k or not, uh, it's a great movie, but yeah, to see it, uh, to see the restoration was,

1:40:53

was awesome. And this movie is, it has to be seen in the 4k restoration. This was just released,

1:41:04

uh, like a month ago or something like that, a couple of months ago, The Descent. Did you ever

1:41:08

see the movie The Descent? Is that the one with the, that they go down the cave and yeah. Yeah.

1:41:15

So it's, it's, you know, sure, if you've got a better quality or if you're watching it from

1:41:19

Blu-ray or something like that, it, it probably looks a lot much better. It looks decent,

1:41:24

but because it's in a cave, like it's, like it's dark, like the blacks. So the whole, yeah. So

1:41:29

that's the thing. This 4k restoration just brings everything to life. The blacks are very black.

1:41:36

There's no banding or anything like that, but the, but the colour and whatever lighting there is,

1:41:42

it just pops from the black. It just, there are things that I saw watching the 4k restoration

1:41:50

that I never saw before because it's so black, because it's, because it's so black. And, uh,

1:41:56

that is, that is a, it's a classic horror film, um, from 2005. And you have to watch it. If you're a

1:42:04

fan of horror, if you like that movie, you have to watch it. You have to watch the 4k restoration.

1:42:09

Yeah. It's just, it's amazing. Yeah. So, um, a bunch of other things. I watched Warfare.

1:42:16

I think you said you saw Warfare in the theatre. Yeah, it was cool. It's a pretty good film. It's

1:42:21

pretty, it's pretty brutal. It's a pretty brutal film. And it's, I could never imagine doing that

1:42:28

going through that. There's just no way. You know, I do kick ass at Call of Duty,

1:42:33

but I don't think I could ever be a fucking soldier. Yeah. That stuff is,

1:42:37

it's pretty, pretty brutal for sure. Um, a bunch of TV shows, some of them I've mentioned before.

1:42:45

I will mention Slow Horses, Gary Oldman. Uh, I think season five maybe just finished. Is that

1:42:52

right? Or it's coming up. Anyways, we've, we're on season two now. It's a cool British,

1:42:57

um, a British, uh, spy film. Yeah. I guess you could, could call it a spy, not film,

1:43:04

but TV series. Uh, it's pretty cool. And Stranger Things. Did you watch Stranger Things?

1:43:10

I am up to date on Stranger Things. Okay. We can talk about it. Oh, man. I thought it was

1:43:15

the twist at the end of episode four. Yeah. It was fucking cool. Yeah. Uh, you know, it really,

1:43:21

I mean, fuck, I don't know if we talk about it or we wait till. Oh, no, no, it's, it's, no,

1:43:25

he's waiting. Let's go. Spoilers ahead, spoilers ahead. So Will looks like he has the power of

1:43:30

Vecna. Yeah. Um, so is he like, was he, I don't know, is like what, what direction do you go? Do

1:43:37

you play Will off as like a mutant and was able to absorb powers or is he just, was he just so

1:43:43

tapped into Vecna, re-altered his DNA? Like how are they going to put that in the storyline?

1:43:49

Was it kind of a one and done thing? Is he 11 sister or brother story? Like what's, what's the

1:43:54

next, what's the theory? What's your theory on it? Yeah. I don't know that I've got a theory. It is,

1:43:59

it is, I didn't expect that. Yeah. I really didn't. And you know what? I'll be honest with you.

1:44:05

I mean, it was entertaining. It was good. Um, I enjoyed it overall, kind of dragged a little bit

1:44:12

like second episode, third episode. I'm thinking, well, I'm really glad this series is finishing up

1:44:18

because yeah, I'm getting tired of it. Right. And then, and then episode four, and it was like,

1:44:22

holy fuck. Punches you in the teeth. Yeah. There, but you know, like are they, they're really kind

1:44:27

of wrapping shit up too. Like you can see they're kind of ending storylines and each like episodes,

1:44:32

like an hour, these new episodes are like an hour and 15, the final episodes, like two hours

1:44:36

and seven minutes or something like that released on New Year's Eve. So like they are doing a bunch

1:44:41

of work for it. Yeah. But, um, it's, you know, like when you're watching Stranger Things and

1:44:48

Will's getting the visions and he's seeing through people's eyes and stuff. I was watching it, my

1:44:53

dad, I'm like, well, he's being a, he's a conductor. Like he's somehow being able to tap in.

1:44:58

So maybe he's being able to tap into Vecna's powers or something like that. But like,

1:45:02

what's the story behind that? Are they going to explain that? Are they going to be right? Some

1:45:05

of the stuff like, it's just, who knows what the fuck's going to happen. But yeah, big, uh,

1:45:11

big, big fan of that. Yeah, for sure. So yeah, they released four episodes. I forget what dates

1:45:16

and stuff like that all in the same day. So the next there's, there's four more. I think three

1:45:21

of them are Christmas Day. Yep. And then the finale is New Year's Eve, right? So, uh, so yeah,

1:45:30

that's what we'll be watching over the holidays. I think I'll probably try to get some of that

1:45:34

stuff done. Um, I know you're big. Sorry. And by the way, 4k with Dolby Atmos is awesome. That show

1:45:41

is great. Oh fuck. Netflix is ripped. Like it was almost like it was made and the, um, uh,

1:45:49

the new Netflix logo they use to do the upside down stuff. Crank that, just turn all the way

1:45:55

up when you're watching it. I noticed that. Through all your speakers. It's fucking cool.

1:45:58

Yeah, right away. That was amazing. Um, I did rewatch some of the old stuff cause we started

1:46:03

talking about sound when you started upgrading your sound. So I went through and kind of watched

1:46:06

some of the stuff, the old man, uh, rewatch the Matrix. Yes, I did that. Not with the,

1:46:12

I watched it before I connected the surrounds. So I'll maybe need to watch it again with the

1:46:16

surrounds. Cause, um, I just had the soundbar at that time. So just watch the bullet scene.

1:46:22

So when they are, when they break into save Morpheus, rewatch that. Um, we watch both Blade

1:46:29

Runners. So they were with Harrison Ford and then the 2049, the opening scene in 2049 fucking just

1:46:37

shakes your building. It's, it's awesome. It looks great. And then, um, everyone always talks about

1:46:44

Gravity. Um, I rewatched Gravity, the cool kind of, uh, like the space effects and stuff,

1:46:51

the ship blowing up is cool, but also the new Star Trek movies, the ones with Chris Pine

1:46:58

and Zachary Quinto, um, watched the very first one cause of all the ship exploding, especially

1:47:04

when that ship, when, uh, Chris Hemsworth is like Kirk's dad, when he bloat, like rams the ship,

1:47:10

yeah, that rips and the 4k rip of that looks fucking cool. So.

1:47:14

Okay, cool. Because that one, that one is not like I've been searching for stuff like,

1:47:19

and of course it's just people's opinions, but you know, what are, what are the best 4k, uh, HDR

1:47:27

or Dolby, Dolby Vision movies with, uh, with Atmos to watch. And yeah, I know of some of those,

1:47:32

you mentioned like the Blade Runner stuff and Matrix and, and whatever, of course,

1:47:36

Mad Max. I rewatched that and just that's awesome. Um, but yeah, Star Trek was not on that,

1:47:42

any of those lists actually. So that's good to, and I'm a big Star Trek fan, especially of

1:47:47

the old Kirk stuff, whether it's the way back, well, you know, the sixties in the series or the,

1:47:52

or those movies with Chris Pine. Yeah. Good stuff.

1:47:55

And you're also a Star Wars fan. So The Force Awakens actually kicks ass.

1:47:59

Yeah. Okay.

1:48:00

Uh, because the Star Wars and that the bright colours and JJ Abrams is doing this thing and

1:48:05

yeah, so definitely rewatch that one. And I don't know if you're a Disney guy at all,

1:48:09

but any of the Pixar stuff kicks ass. Um, Toy Story 3, especially, um, the, there's a full

1:48:15

scene of like the drop claw and the lava pit and all this shit. Fucking awesome. So yeah,

1:48:20

definitely check that stuff out. Right on. Um, I also know you're a big, big, big fan. Taylor

1:48:25

Swift released her, uh, her Era's tour document all shot in Vancouver. So it was a, okay.

1:48:31

That final show is, uh, shot at BC Place. So, uh, you know, uh, watch the song, uh, and

1:48:39

but it's all mixed. It's all mixed in Atmos. So like you, you hear it all the colours pop

1:48:45

because it's just, she's, she's, she's, she could afford it. She's using the best gear,

1:48:48

recording gear and stuff available. So skip forward, watch the song and call it a day.

1:48:56

Yeah, you're good. Yeah. But it's just cool to see the, um, like the effects shot in her

1:49:01

hometown. Fuck the kind of cool. Yeah. Uh, the queen played here almost a year ago. So,

1:49:07

um, that was it. That was it. Okay. Um, well, I guess this is our last show before Chris,

1:49:14

well until after Christmas, the new year, uh, you got any plans? Are you ripping up to see mom or?

1:49:20

No, no, no plans. We're sticking around at home. I'll have almost a couple of weeks off,

1:49:25

but we don't have any plans. We talked about doing something, you know, and we, you know, it's, uh,

1:49:30

even if it's going to Whistler for a couple of days, going to Tofino for a couple of days,

1:49:35

everything's so expensive. Yeah. Uh, I looked at flights to go back home to visit my mom over

1:49:39

Christmas for the two of us, like 1300 bucks. It's a fucking one-way flights and, uh, to cost

1:49:47

that much money for a return flight for the two of us, just not worth it, man. So we're just,

1:49:53

we're just staying home. I recommend Squamish. Squamish. Yeah. Yep. Rip up the Squamish. They

1:49:59

got a cool couple of restaurants in there. So, um. Yeah. So that's the thing. We, we'll, we'll,

1:50:04

we'll take some drives and stuff like that, right? So that might be, I haven't been to Squamish in

1:50:08

a long time. You know, it's probably been, I can't say when it's been a long time. It's probably,

1:50:13

it could be like close to 20 years since I've been to Squamish. Oh fuck. Yeah. Go to Squamish

1:50:18

to use their good, cool restaurants. Yeah. I know you're no longer on the sauce, but there's, uh,

1:50:23

a couple of good breweries up there, back countries up there. Yeah. Um, they got this

1:50:27

full new adventure trail that kind of opened. You can do rain or shine. Yeah. Uh, you can rip

1:50:31

up and see the falls, Shannon Falls up there. Um, yeah, it's a great day trip. The Salmon Hotel

1:50:37

up there is rad. They got the Crash Hotel, which is super cool. Uh, stay up there for a night,

1:50:42

grab a pastry and a coffee and rip back. Yeah. Yeah. That's a, that's a, that's a good trip,

1:50:47

but we'd be doing that. The girl and I liked that trip a lot. So, uh, we spend a day up there and

1:50:53

have some fun and rip back the next day. It's, it feels like you're ripping far enough away

1:50:57

and you're just surrounded by mountains and shit. Yeah. Yeah. And it's, it's, you know,

1:51:00

it's an hour away from here. So it's, it's not too bad. Yeah, definitely. Uh, so the,

1:51:05

that is my recommendation to you. That could be, that might be the top of the list. It sounds like

1:51:11

it's a good idea. Cause yeah, typically we, we like go south. We go to, uh, not to Tsawwassen,

1:51:17

but we go to Steveston didn't, you know, often we've been out, uh, east all, you know, all the way to

1:51:22

Harrison and stuff like that. But yeah, I think we should go the other way.

1:51:26
