All right, let's see how many fucking times I screwed this up.
Are you ready?
Sure.
Ready as I'll ever be.
You'd probably have a better time picking your nose,
but this is how you're choosing to spend your time?
Listening to these guys?
Well, at least they both love heavy metal.
Here are the old men, Adam and Stephen.
Yes, welcome out to it.
This is the Old Men Who Yell at Clouds podcast
when we get together to talk about the things that matter to us.
It is episode number 157.
As we recorded, it is November 16th, 2025.
It is approximately 11 a.m.
and we are podcasting live out of Vancouver, British Columbia.
Hello.
We honor and acknowledge that we join you today
from the traditional ancestral and unceded shared territory
of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh nations.
You know it.
Wow, that actually felt pretty good.
We haven't done that in a little while.
So, before we get into some things,
my name is Adam, and that guy you just heard is Stephen.
Hello, Stephen.
Hi, Adam.
Long time.
It's been a hot minute, but before we get into the things,
you can support us by hitting our website,
oldmenwhoyellatclowds.com.
All right, I screwed up.
There we go.
At the very end, at the very end,
oldmenwhoyellatclowds.com,
and subscribe to our podcast.
And if you want to be extra, extra cool,
head over and buy us a coffee.
Have we got any coffees during our absence?
Absolutely not, man.
Nobody likes this.
Everybody forgot about us already.
Trending up, trending up, trending up.
That's all we can do.
That's the only way we can go.
Maybe with this new website change we're kind of working on,
it might be easier for them to find us.
Maybe.
Yeah, yeah.
A little bit of an update coming.
I guess I don't have much news to report here myself
on some of the stuff I'm working on,
but a new domain.
We're still called the old men who yell at clouds
because that's what we do.
And that's who we are.
And yes, a new domain,
maybe a new website as I'm migrating stuff.
Maybe things will have a little bit of a different look too.
Who knows where it goes.
It depends on time, right?
It all depends on time.
It all depends on time.
And lately we've got, we've had no time.
I hope it's yellow.
You know, I hope it's yellow.
Is that a special request?
Okay.
I'll see what I can do.
Like I like a light yellow, you know?
Light yellow.
A piss, not a darker piss yellow, is it?
You know what I was thinking about?
Because I haven't talked to you in fucking three months.
Did you do your 31 Days of Horror this year?
I did.
I really, I actually did.
And, and, uh, I actually just shared the link, uh, today or I posted, I posted it today.
It's in my, it's in my, my prep there.
Um, so I did, I, I had a hard time, you know, focusing.
There's so much going on in life.
And of course, of course, baseball, lots of baseball watching over the past few months.
Oh yes.
We could get into that later.
I don't know.
Depends on whether or not.
I mean, listen, I am.
And if you've stopped crying and whining and, and stuff, but yeah.
Oh, fuck.
Okay.
I went to a Halloween party on the day of the game seven was happening and, uh, it was
on the background, whatever it is.
And the Blue Jays lost.
We all know this.
No spoilers here.
And there's some people who were supposed to show up and they showed up like literally
crying.
I'm like, you fucking pussy.
It was, it was, who cares?
Oh God.
I mean, it was good.
It was good.
It was a good run.
Um, you know, the Blue Jays did the Blue Jay things, but I'm just, uh, I just, I'm a
bandwagon jumping here.
What did, as a person who watches baseball, what did, how was it?
Was it, was the series stacked?
What happened to that?
So, um, yeah, I'm, I mean, I've, I'm a big Los Angeles Dodgers fan.
So I've admitted that before.
So everybody knows who I was cheering for.
And, uh, as you can assume, I was really happy with the outcome.
Um, now, no, there's, I mean, there's lots, lots we can talk about here.
Right.
I mean, a lot of people might think that I didn't cheer for the Blue Jays because, well,
they might think I'm not a real Canadian, I guess, because all of Canada really jumped
on board.
And it was really cool to see it.
Honestly, it was, it was nice to, to see everybody come together and, uh, cheer for Canada's
only Major League baseball team.
Um, you know, but, but I don't know.
At the same time, I, I just, I mean, I couldn't do it.
I couldn't do it just for that reason.
I don't, even in hockey, I don't cheer for a Canadian team just because they are the only
Canadian team in the Stanley cup final, like the last couple of years with the Oilers.
Right.
I'm not going to cheer for Edmonton just because they're the only team.
So I'm not going to do it for baseball, especially when they're Toronto is playing my favorite
team.
Um, and that shouldn't be a problem.
Right.
I mean, I try and I, I, when it comes to sports, I, I try and separate sports from politics
and, and, you know, people are saying, well, you know, you've, you've got to cheer for Canada.
You've got to cheer for Toronto because we're against the United States and because of Trump
and everything he's doing and all that bullshit, bullshit.
And yes, I'm all on board with that other stuff.
I do my part and I do, you know, I, I, I, I've basically boycotted America as much as
I can anyways.
Yeah.
And, uh, I just try and separate sports.
Right.
So, you know, so I, I kind of had a hard time with that.
If I told somebody I was a Dodgers fan or I wanted them to win and, you know, people would
come back with some sort of response.
Right.
Because of it.
So, um, and, and you know what, I'll, I'll, I'll tell you this too.
I, because the Blue Jays are owned by Rogers, they are, they are, they're owned by Rogers
and you know what, uh, as everybody knows from the show, I fucking hate Rogers.
I can't stand that organization.
So, Hey, there's another, there's another reason why I don't want to cheer for the Blue
Jays.
Right.
That may sound silly, but, but you know, there's, you know, people say, oh, well the
Dodgers are ruining baseball because they go over the, they spend so much fucking money
on their salaries of the players and stuff like that.
And it's way above most other teams in, in major league baseball.
And yeah, that's true.
But the Blue Jays are fifth in overall salary.
They are still far behind the Dodgers and the Yankees.
They are the two richest teams, um, when it comes to player salaries and they get penalized
for it because there's a luxury tax that they have to pay, but Hey, they're willing to do
it.
They're willing to win.
Rogers has tons of money.
They could go out and do the same thing too, if they wanted to.
Right.
So I think that's just a lame excuse.
Um, yeah.
But I, but I will say this about the game itself.
That was probably the best World Series I've ever watched.
It was, it was such, all seven games were just amazing.
I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.
Um, I could not sit still.
Um, I didn't know where things were going to go.
I didn't know which way, I didn't know what was going to happen.
I mean, nobody, nobody does of course, but there were times where I was basically giving
up.
I felt that Toronto is going to win this.
And even in game seven, I think it was probably, you know, we're into the seventh inning or
something like that already.
I think the, I think the, the Blue Jays were still up and then that solo home run,
I think it was the top of the seventh inning that may have tied it at the time.
Yeah.
And it's like, holy shit, we've got a chance here.
We could have broken the back of the Blue Jays and, um, you know, but still, you know,
it went to extra innings and then it took another solo home run by the Dodgers to finally,
to finally end it.
But holy shit, it was such an amazing series.
It really was.
It was, it was, despite the outcome.
Um, and despite my team winning, it was, I can still say it was the best World Series
I've ever watched.
It was great.
And, and, you know, I feel bad for some of the players, you know, especially Vladimir
Guerrero, uh, junior, Vlad Jr.
Um, you know, he, he is such a great player.
I know he really wanted to win.
Um, he is a Canadian born player.
He's, um, you know, he was born in Montreal cause his dad played.
For the Expos way back when, and, um, you know, he was, you could see the pain, you know,
when they, when the camera went over to him and you could see how gutted he was.
And then you know what?
I mean, that's part of sport, but, but, but hey, that's, you know, you, you kind of feel
bad when you see that, right?
There can only be one winner, unfortunately.
And that's just the way it goes, but man, what a series.
I just loved watching that.
It was a lot of fun.
I'm, I'm glad one of us enjoyed it.
Well, no, it's cool just to like, to see what's going on.
And then, you know, Canada's team, besides the Rogers bullshit, it's still, it's, it's
still cool.
And they deserve to be there.
Like I remember just like, cause I've only, I mean, I once saw a Blue Jays game when I
was in Toronto and it was, it was awesome.
It was a, it was a good time.
And then obviously we've done a couple of Mariners games.
So to watch those teams go neck and neck was pretty cool.
Yep.
Um, hold on just one second.
Oh shit.
Sorry about that.
The, uh, we, I'll get into it after, but, uh, we were talking about, uh, um, the sea or
Seattle and blue and Seattle and the Blue Jays.
So I've watched both teams now and it was always a fun environment in there.
And I, like, I guess we vote or root for the Seattle Mariners cause they're the closest
team to us.
So it's just kind of like we root for the Seahawks.
Are you a Seahawks fan at all?
Do you even like football?
No, I'm, I'm not a big, I lost interest in the NFL quite a number of years ago.
I still follow it mainly because I'm in a fantasy pool now.
Yeah.
So it kind of keeps me, uh, I wouldn't say interested in the game, but so I follow it in
that respect.
So I follow games.
Um, I follow the players.
Obviously I have to learn the players or at least as best I can.
This is my second year in this fantasy league right now.
And I'm doing, I don't know.
I, I, I do well at fantasy sport because, well, I, I, I just do my research.
Right.
So I, yeah, I'm certainly no expert when it comes to knowing about the NFL, but you know,
I, I, for fantasy football, I seem to do okay.
Um, but yeah, but yeah, back to the Blue Jays.
I mean, they finished last, I mean, I don't know, I don't, were they last in the American
league last year?
I don't know.
They were at the, they were in the cellar though, certainly in the, in the division,
they, they were last and to see them come back like they did this year was quite an
accomplishment for sure.
Yeah.
I mean, yes, the ultimate goal is to win the World Series, but they really shouldn't
be too disappointed as to how far they came in just one season, right?
From basically last to last to going to the World Series.
And, um, not many teams can do that.
I mean, not many teams can make it to the World Series, but especially after the shitty
season they had the year before.
Exactly.
Yeah.
So, so anyways, anyways, lots, lots of fun, big fan.
I watched, I watched obviously a lot of baseball throughout the playoffs and, um, and not just
my team.
I, I followed all the, all the teams, all the games and stuff like that.
And, uh, it was pretty good baseball overall.
And again, that it was capped off by that amazing World Series.
It was just so fun to watch.
And, uh, since we last chat, hockey's up in full swing.
Are you still cheering for the Bruins?
Oh, absolutely.
Yeah.
Yeah, for sure.
I'm, I mean, that's my team and, and everybody wrote them off again this year and, and rightfully
so they've lost some, some talent, you know, they've taken a step back.
They missed the playoffs last year for the first time in several years.
Uh, in fact, they finished near the bottom of the league.
I think, I forget what finish, what position they finished at, but.
You know, last year they definitely didn't have a good team.
And I think people were expecting the same this year, but, uh, you know, I look at the standings
today and they're in first place in their division.
Um, yeah.
They started well, then they had a six game losing streak or something.
And then they had another like winning seven of eight or something like that.
They've been playing pretty good.
Um, so, so yeah, they're doing well.
If you look at the standings across the entire league though, there are the, there's so much
parity.
The, all the teams are really tight.
I think out of 32 teams, I think I looked only six of them are below 500.
So all the teams, except for six have a winning record or at least a 500 or better record.
Right.
Oh, wow.
I mean, we're about a quarter way through the season already.
And that's, it just goes to show you how much parity there is.
You don't know.
There's some surprises too.
I mean, there's some, there's some teams that are doing really shit.
Some teams that you expect to be good, uh, that are not good.
And some teams that you expect to be shitty are up near the top of the standings right
now.
And again, only a quarter way through lots can happen yet.
But, but I mean, there's some surprises so far and it's, so it's not, it's kind of nice
to watch.
So.
And who the fuck are the Utah Mammoth?
I'm like, yeah.
Yeah.
I was just like, I was watching some highlights, whatever it is.
Cause that's usually what I watch and I'm, you know, I'm on the shitter on the
TikTok, whatever the fuck it is.
And I see something like Utah Mammoth.
I'm like, what the, when did, when did this, is this a brand new team that launched this
year?
Like, where is it?
Like I missed that news completely.
I mean, I'm sports is highly up on my news list as you can tell.
Yeah.
I think, I think it was last year when Phoenix, basically they ran out of options in Phoenix.
Yeah.
And so that team moved to Salt Lake City.
Gotcha.
And, uh, so, and I think last year they were just called the Utah Hockey Club and they had,
I think they had a lottery or some sort of, uh, not a pool, but they had some sort of,
uh, you know, name, name our team.
And, uh, that's what it was.
They ended up being called the, uh, the Utah Mammoth and yeah, they are, I mean, they've
been playing decent over the years and they've got some nice young kids that are coming up
in their system and they're, they're playing really well.
But I mean, like nobody expected them to do as well as they are.
I mean, right now they're out of a playoff spot, but that's just because it's so, the,
the standings are so tight and the parity is so, so close.
I mean, I'm looking at the, the, the standings right now and they are, the record is 10,
seven and one and yeah, they sit, they sit out of a playoff spot, but, but again, they're,
they're, they're right in there.
I mean, they could be, I mean, they're within three or four points of first place in their
division, right?
So that's how close things are right now.
So, but yeah, um, Pittsburgh has had a shitty team, but Crosby's playing really well.
They're up, they're doing good.
Um, who else is doing good?
I mean, the typical teams are there.
Colorado's up there.
Uh, LA Kings are up there.
The, who else?
Uh, New Jersey Devils, Carolina is up there.
Those teams, you know, everybody expected that, but you look at teams like,
like Anaheim, the Anaheim Ducks, like, holy fuck, Seattle is even doing fairly well.
Um, Chicago is doing really well.
Like those are all teams that were right at the bottom last year.
And, um, so yeah, they've started pretty good.
So it's, yeah, it's fun to watch as well.
Again, with hockey, especially you just don't know what's going to happen from, from game
to game.
So it's cool.
Good time of year.
And there you go.
I lost you.
Yeah.
Sorry.
It was, uh, that was my bad.
Um, so I was, I just fill you in.
So, uh, we had a house fire.
Um, it happened about three weeks ago.
So I will sort of send you some photos earlier, but what happened was, was I was here on a
Sunday, just get ready for work.
And, uh, my, our washing, washing machine dryer fucking shit the bed.
So we bought a new washing machine dryer.
And, um, when we got them installed, the installers like, well, you should probably end up getting
a bigger line put into the washer because it's newer and can handle more, like more of a
water load.
So my parents like, okay, yeah, let's do that.
So they, a guy was in here taking care of that.
Uh, and, uh, as he was doing that, the, uh, he ripped apart the drip walk to get to the
copper hosing in the, in the wall.
And he just took his regular blowtorch.
And, uh, the minute he touched the blowtorch, it ignited everything inside the wall.
So like, I don't know what it was in there.
It was like asbestos or whatever the fuck it was.
It was a bunch of, um, sort of like insulation.
Yeah.
So that insulation was highly flammable.
It caught the hole.
So I'm sitting in my room.
I'm just watching Netflix or something.
And I hear all this commotion downstairs.
My parents start yelling.
And they're like, I'm like, what the fuck is that?
I go downstairs.
It's like, we have a fire.
I'm like, we don't know.
And my parents are, they're panicking and they're trying to dial 911.
But my dad's connected.
They're like, you know, like Google fucking home.
My mom doesn't know where her phone is.
I'm like, what the fuck?
So I start running.
So I flipped from zero to a hundred and I start ripping around to find our fire extinguisher,
which has moved conveniently three times in our house.
So I finally found it and I start running downstairs.
But what I didn't know is that the mechanic or the plant plumber, he actually ripped the
copper hosing out to try to direct water into the wall.
So it would put the fire out.
Ah, yeah.
So when I ran downstairs, it was all flooded because all the water was there fucking where.
So anyways, I ran down and I hand him the fire extinguisher and I'm watching, put it out
and I could see the flames coming through the wall.
And I'm like, this isn't going to be good enough.
So I opened the window and I ran back outside to grab the hose and threw it into the, into
the, like threw it into the laundry room.
And he just started spraying the hose in the wall.
Yeah.
So.
Shit.
And then, so at the time they called 911.
I ended up calling 911 because I don't know if they called it whatever it was while I
was fucking running around and doing all that stuff.
But yeah, here's some of the, uh, I'll send you some of the photos.
You can post these too because it's fucking, it is what it is.
So anyways, the, uh, the fire department ended up showing up and there was like 40 of them
and they had the heat guns and they were doing like checking the walls and scans and stuff.
Yep.
Yep.
So they did all that stuff.
Yeah.
Um, yeah, it was, uh, it was pretty interesting.
So.
Wow.
Uh, just did your photos with that one.
And then, so now, um, we're just getting it all repaired.
So there's a dry walk or dry walk, a dry walk guy coming.
There's a mudder coming.
They're sanding it.
They're painting it down, whatever it is.
But the worst part is it's like, it smells like fire.
Like there's just a bunch of, uh, you know, it just smells weird in the house.
So it's kind of an eerie feeling.
I don't know if you've ever had a house fire before, but shit's fucked.
Yeah.
Yeah.
No, it's scary because, and it sounds like the way things started, it could have gotten so much worse so quickly.
And, uh, you know, who knows where it's going to spread, I guess, uh, inside the wall.
And I guess that's why they wanted to check for any hotspots and stuff like that.
And so it sounds like it was fairly well contained then, I guess, despite the damage maybe from smoke and water.
Yeah.
But, uh, it sounds like things were lucky.
Yeah.
That's pretty shitty.
Oh, I see how they're redoing it and stuff now though.
But so even like three weeks later, you could still smell smoke in your place.
Yeah.
There's just like, it's not as bad as it was obviously, but you can still like, there's a little tinge of it.
And there's like, like they came in to do the repair work with, uh, you know, insurance and stuff.
And they're like ripping the, they're like, they scraped off all the shit, replaced some of the two by fours that were shit.
Yeah.
And, um, you know, they put this like coat on it, which really sealed up all the stuff.
Like obviously it's not the first time it happened.
So, uh, or to anyone before, but it's, uh, yeah, they, they really fixed it up pretty quickly.
So now it's, I don't know if it's like, um, like a subliminal smell, but it's, yeah, it's all, it's all sorts of fucked.
Yeah.
But yeah, that was scary.
And then my dad and I were talking, he's just like, well, you handed that pretty well.
I'm like, well, that's my job.
Like I work well in high stress situations.
Um, cause we're always going, like we go from zero to a hundred and point two.
Two seconds, my job, like that's part of the gig.
So like, I just fucking acted and went, and I'm sure you go do the same way being an ex-paramedic and stuff.
You know, like it just kind of rips around and just kind of go, you don't have time to think, you just got to get it done.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Certainly that's the way I used to be anyways.
I mean, I don't know if I came across a scenario or a situation like that again.
I don't know how I would react.
I'm getting old and it's been a long time and, uh, who knows, but, but yeah, some of it's, like you said,
it's just instinct after a while.
Yeah.
If you, if you, if that's the way you're trained to be, um, you know, then it will come to you quick as to what you need to do.
Even if, you know, you know, it's all about the basics when it comes to stuff like that.
Right.
You know, as far as, you know, like the, the plumber, you know, broke the hose to get some water flowing in there and you immediately checked out the fire extinguisher and then grabbed the hose and, you know, stuff like that comes quickly and, and you need somebody like that.
Otherwise, again, things can turn real bad real quick.
So, yeah, my dad was like, fuck, if you weren't here, the house would have burned down.
Like, he's just like, he's like, I was trying to figure this out and do shit like this.
And I was like, yeah, fuck.
Like, thank God, because I don't know, obviously that's not a good thing.
Yeah.
Yeah, for sure.
Wow.
Happy, it's a happy, it has a happy ending.
It's shitty.
It happened, but it, uh, sounds like everything's, uh, relatively okay.
And nobody was hurt.
Obviously that's the main thing.
So.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's one of the reasons why we've been delayed.
Uh, yeah, yeah, yeah, many reasons, but lots of reasons, lots of reasons, lots of stuff
going on.
Lots, lots busy, busy, busy.
Yeah, for sure.
But you actually, so I read about this maybe a couple of weeks ago and it's in your prep
and it's about Google's blocking the side loading of unverified Android apps.
Yeah.
Uh, so I just love how you put Android is becoming the new iOS and I started laughing
because yeah, Apple's been doing that for years.
Yeah.
Uh, they've, the developers have found some sneaky ways around it, but like the majority
of it, you're, you're, you're fucked.
You can't do it.
Um, but does this affect your ecosystem at all or are you just kind of rolling?
How does it affect you?
Well, well it does, it does a little bit because there are, there is a, there are, I do sideload
apps.
Uh, so I do download apps outside of the Play Store and install them.
Um, and because some of them are not in, uh, in the Play Store themselves.
Uh, other times you do it, uh, sometimes you do it for apps that may be in the Play Store,
but you do it so that you don't have to use Google so that Google doesn't know what you're
doing, right?
It's all about, at least some of it is, is about avoiding Google.
And so they don't know what you're doing, what apps you're using and all that sort of
stuff, because really it is none of their business.
And, and, and yes, I get that there are millions and billions of apps out there and some of them
are malicious, right?
So the whole idea is for them, it's a security thing in their minds.
Um, but at the end of the day, this is my phone.
Um, let me do what the fuck I want to do with it, right?
And if it's, if I get a virus or if I get something, if something happens to my phone
and my data on my phone, it's my problem.
You have, you, you, you have to know what you're doing, right?
And yes, it's, you have to take responsibility for that, but, but it's my shit.
I want to do with my phone, what I choose to do, and you should not have any control over
that.
You should not be able to spy on me.
You should not be able to see what I'm doing.
Uh, and that's the whole problem that people have with this.
And that, I mean, a lot of people choose Android because of the freedoms and because it's a
little bit more customizable.
Yes.
And so that's why we're all pissed off that, hey, if I wanted an iPhone, I'd get an iPhone
and I'm not trying to dish Apple or iPhones and no, I don't like them.
But, um, but yeah, I don't, I don't want my devices to start going in that direction.
Right.
And yeah, because, because yes, people say, uh, Apple phones are, are more secure and
all that sort of stuff.
Well, yes, they are just because they don't allow sideloading of apps like Android does.
But, but at the same time, Apple is collecting all your shit and selling it too.
I mean, they're, they're, they're no different than any other of these major tech companies,
Apple, uh, Google, Facebook, uh, Amazon, like all of them just suck because of, you know,
we're forced to use their, their apps or their operating systems or whatever it may be.
And, um, all they do is spy on us.
And I mean, that just shouldn't be allowed.
And we shouldn't, we shouldn't be allowing these companies to, to do some of the things
they do.
So anyways, that's why there's a big uproar now.
Uh, I don't like it.
I don't know what I'm going to do at the, as you said, though, there's always ways around
things, right?
So, so we'll have to see what happens over the next couple of months.
Cause I think this is, is this coming in early 2026?
I can't, I can't remember.
I mean, at some point in, in, in the next year it's going to happen, but.
You know, I guess it gives time for some of the other developers to try and make a workaround
here.
Right.
You don't have to upgrade like to the latest IO or software.
I won't say iOS, but is it jellyfish jelly?
What are they on right now?
I don't even know what we're, they don't even use the names anymore.
Are they, yeah, I don't know because they were doing, I think they were all food or foods
and stuff like that.
Like gingerbread, uh, uh, geez, I don't know.
I can't even remember some of the other names.
Ice cream sandwich was the one, was the next one.
Like, I don't know.
They're going by letters of the alphabet and, and assigning a food that starts with that
letter, I guess, as the next version or the next release.
So anyway, I don't know where we're at now.
They don't use those foods anymore to describe the, what version of the operating system they're
on.
So anyway.
But the easiest thing to do was not upgrade operating systems until they, because it won't
come into effect until the new operating system comes in, correct?
I believe so.
Yes.
Although, yeah, I don't know.
Again, with, with the patches and stuff like that.
And yes, I guess the whole idea is yes, try to avoid the patches that come along, but
then those patches also contain secure, they're security patches for the, for, you know,
they're not, they're not just OS updates.
They are security patches and those are the important things that, well, you need, you should
do those, but again, that's where it introduces all of these, all this different stuff that
Google thinks we should have.
Go Google.
Uh, anyway, yeah, it's, it's kind of shitty.
Uh, it's just another, it's all part of this data privacy and security stuff that, you know,
I'm trying to do my part in and lessen my exposure to all of these companies.
So, um, we'll see what happens.
Uh, with that being said, is there anything you're looking at for Black Friday coming up?
That is happening on November 28th.
Yeah.
Uh, anything on the radar?
What do you, uh, what's, what's, what's on your, what's on your list?
Well, there's record store Black Friday, of course.
Uh, I don't know how that's, I don't know how that's going to work out this year.
Cause, um, we've got a big, that's in two weeks or less than two weeks now, we've got
a big conference with work here in Vancouver.
So all of our employees across Canada are coming in.
We're having some training sessions and meetings and our Christmas dinner all rolled
into that and it's down at the River Rock.
Um, so that is, um, that is the Thursday night.
And because some of us are staying overnight to help with, uh, you know, some of the shit
that's going on, I'm there through to Friday morning.
I don't know what's planned for Friday, Friday morning.
I mean, I'm hoping to get out of there early and then I can whip downtown or whip someplace
and go check out the record store, see what purchases I can snag.
But, um, we'll have to see how that goes.
Anyway, so that's, that is one thing.
Um, you know, I'm watching some other stuff online.
Yeah.
There are, you know, I mentioned the Sonos Arc Ultra soundbar that I picked up.
Yeah, that's badass.
I'm looking at a pair of surround speakers to go with it.
So, but those have to come down in price if I'm going to do anything.
So.
What are they at right now?
Oh, they're at like 600 bucks for one.
Nevermind a pair.
Oh yeah.
So.
Yeah.
So that's as, a pair of those is, is as much as the soundbar is.
So yeah, that's a lot of money.
So.
What about you?
Just, um, I'm just, I was speaking of, I'm looking for an iPad.
Okay.
Uh, I just want to just to like, I have a outdated Mac book that is now just a media player.
Like, yeah.
Hook a HDMI up to it and use that as a media player.
Cause you install VLC on it and you can play whatever the fuck you want.
Yeah.
So, but I want an iPad for like, I've noticed that while I've been out and about traveling,
kind of doing some things like having a tablet just to kind of have a bigger screen or to watch
a movie to wind down or something.
Because when I was in Winnipeg, I was trying to wind down the hotel,
but about 50% of Winnipegians are French speaking.
So there's a lot of French programming on.
So I was like watching Big Bang Theory in French cause it was the only thing on TV.
So I'm just like, well, if I have an iPad, I can rip around and, you know, just watch
my own shit while I'm just kind of abroad and it's nice and light and stuff.
And because I am part of the Apple ecosystem, I have chargers up the yin yang for everything.
So I can plug it in and go, but a new iPad and stuff is still pretty pricey.
So I've been watching a lot.
Like I've been watching Facebook marketplace a lot because you could get a, probably a good
used one along with like the keyboards and all this stuff for, you know, in between 500
and a thousand bucks.
So hopefully just pick up a nice used one and kind of go that way.
But I did pick up, there was like a Amazon Black Friday sale.
I know you Amazon, the evil fucking devil, but I had my eye on the Last of Us remastered
parts one and two for my PS5.
Oh, okay.
And there were normally like $79 or something like that for the first one and 89 for the
second one, but they're both on sale for like $25 or something like that.
So I picked both those up for 50 bucks.
Cool.
And then I sold my, cause I just upgraded the versions cause they have to give the
graphics and the gameplay and all that stuff.
So I just ended up selling my old two ones for 20 bucks on Facebook marketplace.
Okay.
And those, that was the quickest sale I ever made.
I got like a hundred results.
So I'm like, first off, you know, it's not the, yep, no problem.
And I just met some guy at 7-Eleven and he ended up picking it up.
But, um, that's pretty much about it.
I don't know if that's a Black Friday thing or whatever, but I got nothing, really
nothing on the radar.
Yeah.
Just, uh, just a comment on your iPad for when you travel and stuff like that.
I, um, I picked up, I mean, this is sort of related.
I, I picked up a travel router.
Oh.
I haven't really tested this out yet.
When I was in Toronto, I kind of, I was really too, I was too busy.
I had it hooked up and I forgot a cable.
So I had to, to eventually find one from one of my coworkers who had, uh, he's part of the
IT team.
He had to, I borrowed a cable, an HDMI cable from him.
Uh, anyway, so I, but I didn't get to test it much, but the whole idea is, uh, that, so even
when you go watch TV, like you said, TV is either shitty, it's limited.
Um, yeah, I, I mean, I just, I just hate the options.
So not that you spend a lot of time in your room, especially watching TV when you're out
traveling or on vacation.
But anyway, I picked up the travel router, the whole idea is, and, and, and I got a,
an old, um, Roku, what's it called?
A Roku 4k.
It's not the big Roku pro.
It's not the big, uh, or not the big, they're not big anyways.
It's like a stick.
It's more of, it's not a stick either, but it's just a small, tiny thing.
It's, it's, uh, um, you know, it's still 4k, it's still connects to wifi and of course
it's HDMI out to your TV.
So it still has a lot, but anyways, the whole idea is, is, um, use the travel
router, connect through something called tail scale, or you can use any, any VPN,
WireGuard VPN or something like that.
So connect from the travel router back home here to my home network.
And then that would allow me to stream from the Roku, anything I want
and play it on the TV at, uh, in, in the hotel room.
So, um, yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, sure I could watch Plex or whatever it is on my laptop.
Yes.
I mean, that's no problem.
I can do that.
But hey, if I've got a TV there, a nice big TV, why not watch something on TV
while I'm lying in bed or whatever it is.
Right.
So, um, so I hope to test that out when I start.
Stay over at the, at the river rock here in a couple of weeks, I'm going
to bring it and get it all hooked up again one night and see what, see
what I can do.
And, you know, it, it is all configured as far as I can tell.
Everything should be ready to go.
So we'll, we'll give that a shot, but yeah, it's, it's, um, yeah.
Hey, I've got my, I've got my media library here, right?
Why not?
Yeah.
No, fuck that time.
Take advantage of it.
I already, I already listen to music wherever I want.
Um, why not take advantage of, you know, movies and TV and stuff like that too?
Cause yeah.
I didn't even know that existed.
That's, that's fucking cool.
Yeah.
For sure.
Uh, is it an expensive piece of gear or is it pretty cheap?
Travel router is a hundred bucks.
Oh, that's easy.
Yeah, for sure.
And you can get a Roku or you can get any of those other smaller, uh, media
players for, I mean, that Roku was 40 bucks or something like that, that I
bought for my mom a while back and she's using something else now.
So yeah, easy.
What'd you hook up for her?
What's she using?
Well, she's using my old Nvidia Shield.
Oh, nice.
Yeah.
Cause I picked up a new one because it's got 4k and, uh, obviously with the
new TV now I need 4k with HDR and, uh, and Dolby vision and stuff like that.
Right.
So speaking, speaking of TV, so I've been watching some stuff and we'll get
into maybe movies later, but one thing I wanted to just mention real quick
about it, having 4k HDR, watching the, those BBC, uh,
that BBC programming, like Planet Earth, Frozen Planets, like, you know,
you know what I'm talking about.
All of those, watching all those and spending the money on a nice TV is
worth it just for that stuff.
Yeah.
It's just so, that footage is just so amazing.
It really is.
It's just, yeah.
And you get into like the massive rips of the Blu-rays and stuff and
there's like, there's always constantly debates on Reddit, which is the
best movie to watch.
And, uh, Ready Player One is up there.
Gravity's up there.
Yeah.
Uh, Blade Runner 2014.
Um, what else is up there?
Um, shit, I don't know.
There's a bunch of Pacific Rim is up there.
Top Gun Maverick is up there.
Yeah.
There's a bunch of amazing movies that are just shot and that if you
have the set and the sound system that does it, it's like, it's better than
seeing a movie in the movie theater.
Yeah.
Yeah, exactly.
And these TV shows are, are mentioned along with those movies all the time.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Have you ever watched, like, have you ever sat down and watched one of those
nature shows?
Like the blue, was it BBC Blue Planet, whatever it is?
Uh, well, yeah, I, I had some running this morning and that's why I, that's
why I wanted to bring it up.
I just been, so I've been, I've been playing that stuff a little bit.
Like I'm just, I'm still getting into this, this high quality, this HDR or Dolby
Vision with Dolby Atmos.
So it's, it's not, it's the audio and video.
So, you know, I'm still checking out some of the stuff that, that's, that's
available and it's just, it's, it's amazing.
But yeah, I was watching some of that this morning.
I had it on the TV while I was doing my prep and checking over your shit and
doing some other stuff here, having my coffee and whatever.
It's just, it's amazing stuff.
Do you remember Peter Henderson from CFOX?
Yes, I do.
Yes, I do.
Peter.
So he, he would always have people over to his house and we would always get
high and he'd always, everyone who came over had to watch this one specific
section on BBC Blue Planet.
It was about these like birds who were flying around and the commentator on it
would always go blue footed birdies.
She would say it like three or four times.
It's just like, this is the greatest thing in the history of TV.
Like, cause it would be like this art, like this cinematic shot of these blue
birds flying in and this lady would come out of nowhere.
Blue footed birdies.
It was the greatest thing ever.
And he did it.
He must've showed everyone at work that like he would just, it was just
thing.
You'd come over and we need to get high and we need to watch this thing on
BBC.
It was just like, it was the funniest thing.
So that's where my mind goes for all that shit.
And I actually haven't watched, well, I mean, I have an older set.
It's a Samsung, fuck.
I don't fucking know, but it's like, it's 4k.
It's meant for gaming, but I did throw on cause I did end up buying that BBC
stuff on Blu-ray.
So I still have a Blu-ray player that actually plays that content.
So I did throw that on and it was actually really, really cool.
Yeah.
But, uh, yeah, shit, you know, I, I do need a new TV, uh, fuck, I don't
know.
During the COVID and we're recording, I took my, I think I explained this,
but like I was putting my camera behind my TV and like the little USB
dongle actually tapped like the, the little, little fucking cord on the end
of the cable like that, that silver part actually tapped the, my TV set and
chipped it.
Oh no.
So I have one fucking dead pixel in this $2,000 TV that I can't fix because
it's not worth fixing.
So whenever, so when I'm playing like a video game, that's all in black, I
got this one fucking pixel in the middle of the fucking way.
I'm like, I'm still pissed off about it, but there's no point replacing the
TV.
Cause when eventually when I leave this fucking place, I will get a new set
from my new house and move forward that way.
But that still pisses me off.
Yeah, that sucks.
I'd be pissed off too.
Like, fuck that's, you spend so much money.
You don't want something like that to happen.
And it's like, like screens aren't durable.
Like I can drop my phone from 15 feet and it's fine.
But like I get a little tap, which is not even a fake, like if it was a big
thud or something, I get it.
But it was just like a little, a little swing tap.
Holy shit.
Fucking pissed off.
But whatever.
That's all I can do.
That's all I can do.
Yeah.
Uh, I know we've talked about this in the past, but I'm in the market for a
new password manager.
Yeah.
What are you using for a password manager?
I use Bitwarden.
I've used Bitwarden for a while now.
Yeah.
So I think, I think I've gone through three different phases.
I think there was something called RoboForm, something that was a long time ago.
I think it was called RoboForm.
RoboForm, RoboPass, Robo something.
That was the first password manager.
That was probably one of the very first pieces of software that I didn't mind purchasing a license for.
Nice.
Um, like this is, this is back in, this is probably back in my early Chorus days.
Actually, it was probably even before I joined Chorus.
So I was.
Oh fuck.
So I've been using a password manager for a long time.
I think eventually, uh, eventually I moved to, I moved to something else.
I forget what it's called.
It's, it's your own, it's not self-hosted, but it, but it's, um, it's stored locally.
Um, I, I forget the name of it, but I would use something called sync thing, which would sync it to a server or my computer.
It would act as a backup, but it would, it would sync all my devices together.
It would, so it would sync all the passwords.
It acts as a backup, but it acts as a syncing device as well.
So that, you know, you store it locally and you run it locally.
And, and so there's, there's no cloud involved at all.
Right.
So it's not spreading over the internet.
So, so again, it's all self-contained.
I eventually moved to, to LastPass.
Yep.
And of course, long before actually LastPass had the, the issues that they've had over the recent years anyways, they've been hacked and I don't know, they're a shady organization now.
Uh, I've been using Bitwarden now for, for a number of years now.
So, uh, I think Bitwarden is one of the better ones.
I'm not saying everybody should go to Bitwarden.
Uh, I like it.
Uh, you can self-host it if you want as well, which is free, or you can, I mean, the regular, there is a free version of the regular cloud Bitwarden too.
So, and I think it gives you, uh, two people in your family members can, can run off the same account or some, so I don't know how it works, but I don't mind paying for it because I let my mom use it now and that's, that's itself is well worth the money.
And my sister uses it and, uh, um, trying to get my aunt to use it as well because she's got shitty passwords that she's always trying to write down everywhere.
And anyway, um, Bitwarden is probably one of two that you should be looking at if you wanted to, to, to, to do this, uh, through a cloud.
And, and so there's Bitwarden and I think the other one's called 1Password.
Oh yeah, I know 1Password.
Yeah.
So those, those two you should look at.
Cause I'm on LastPass right now and they did a new clunky update and it's just like.
Stop.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's time to fucking move on.
Move on from LastPass.
Definitely.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So that's, uh, that's on my to-do list.
So.
Yeah.
Export, export your, um, export everything.
Import it easy enough into one of those other two, two apps and away you go.
It's pretty simple.
So.
Yeah.
So you can export in LastPass?
Yes.
Yeah.
Oh, should I have to look up how to do that?
Yep.
Oh, well, because if you've got a hundred more or more accounts in your, in your password
manager, which you probably do.
Yeah.
Uh, that would be impossible to have to enter them manually in another system.
Right.
So.
Well, I was about to get ready to do that.
That was about to be the, uh.
You can, you can export cause I did that for my accounts.
Oh, perfect.
Yeah.
I am so excited now.
Do it.
Bitwarden it is.
Bitwarden it is.
Do it.
Yes, for sure.
You won't be sorry.
Uh, what else do we got going on?
Shit.
Right.
I've been playing a lot of video games.
Um, I'm playing this game on PS5 called Ghost of Utai.
It's at the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, which means nothing to you.
Nope.
Have you even played the Xbox that I fucking gave you?
I haven't, man.
It's, it's sitting there all hooked up and collecting dust.
It's sad because it's something that I really wanted to, you know, try out and mess around
with.
Well, it's still time, but.
I can, it still can.
I know, but, but it, but it sucks that it's sometimes, I mean, I've got no excuse.
I, like, I don't know.
I mean, I, we all say that we're busy and there's no time and in some ways that's true,
but you know, whatever.
Sometimes, sometimes I just don't have time.
Sometimes shit just happens.
And so I've been playing a lot of video games, so I'm behind on everything.
Yeah.
Uh, but this game is fantastic.
I, it sucked me in.
I'm about 75% done.
I, I fucking love it.
New Call of Duty came out last week.
I'll be playing that after I beat this and lose my life and get my ass kicked by a 12 year
old.
It's always a good time.
Uh, but you know, that's just, it's been, life's just been busy for you.
I know it's been super busy conferences and stuff, and I've been busy with work.
I've been bumped up to supervisor.
I got a bunch of shit going on with that stuff.
Uh, but yeah, it's, uh, sorry.
We apologize to you listeners.
It's been a fucking hot minute and I don't know if it's going to get better or worse.
Like shit's pick, picking up for Christmas.
Do you have any Christmas plans?
What's going on?
Cause it's around the corner.
It is.
It's happening fast.
We're mid November already.
And, um, 20, 26 is coming up quick and yeah, no plans for Christmas.
Uh, I might try and make a visit out to see my mom.
Um, um, no, no flight plans.
You know what?
Uh, here we go.
I'm going to get, I'm, I'm pissing myself off here and I'm getting worked up because I mean,
it's my own fault, but you know, I was looking at flights to, out to Calgary, just a flight.
You know, it pisses me off that these airlines are able to fuck around with their pricing.
Right.
So the closer you get to a date and the capacity for each flight, uh, causes the, the seats to go up in price.
Right.
Yeah.
Um, for the two of us to fly to Calgary return, uh, would be like 12 or $1,300 over Christmas.
And that's the only reason why, cause it's over Christmas and that's fucking stupid.
Why are airlines allowed to do that with their pricing?
Why are they allowed to do it?
It's the price today for a seat should be the same as a price for the same seat two months from now.
Right.
You buy, you buy a, uh, I don't know.
You, you buy a, well, let's just say a hockey game or a movie ticket.
I mean, you're, you're, you're buying that price.
The closer you get to the screening time for a movie does not cause the price of a seat to go up in price.
Right.
Yeah, that's true.
So why should it be different and same for a hockey game?
Uh, you know, getting into verified resales, that's a whole nother story of course, but, but why should, why should seats for a flight be any different?
Yeah.
Right.
So, uh, yeah, they do it all the time and it just, you know, it pisses me off.
And that's why I hate these fucking airlines.
They're all shit.
They really are, you know, and then, and then things go wrong.
There's delays.
There are, you know, your problems with your fucking luggage.
You know, now that, now, now you, now you have to pay extra for carry on luggage.
Of course you have to pay extra for checked luggage.
I mean, what?
Like they fucking nickel and dime you for every single fucking thing.
They jack up prices, the closer you get, or the more, the higher the capacity is for the flight.
Like why, why does it happen?
Your flight at eight o'clock in the morning should be the same as your flight at 2 PM.
Right.
Because, you know, you've got these, you know, you check for a flight and sure the six o'clock AM flight is a, I'm just throwing a number out there, 150 bucks.
Yeah.
Well, why should the flight, why should that flight be cheaper?
Why should the flight at 2 PM be more expensive than that one at six o'clock in the morning?
It's the same fucking seat.
It's the same fucking flight.
It's this, you know, you're not getting, there's no difference here.
Why should it be any different?
Right?
Like it's, it's bullshit.
It really is.
Anyways, uh, because of that, we probably won't be going for a visit at Christmas.
So those airlines could fuck right off.
They're not getting my money.
There we go.
It's true.
But it's like that with like gas and look at our cell phones.
We're getting racked over the coals for our cell phones here.
Yeah.
In the States, you get unlimited, you pay $300.
You get a brand new iPhone or Samsung or a OnePlus One, whatever phone you want.
Yeah.
And you pay a thousand bucks for the year.
And like here, we just get screwed.
Like we're all, everyone's paying 80 to a hundred dollars for, you know, just basic service.
And even then it's spotty at best.
Yeah.
Yeah, for sure.
Your telecoms should not be, should not be.
Yeah.
They are just as bad, you know.
Um, I'm not saying, I'm not saying I agree with it, but gas prices are the same.
But, but I mean, I mean, I don't like it, but I guess you can see.
Well, they shouldn't go up just because it's the fucking holidays or just because it's summertime.
Like they really shouldn't.
Yeah.
I know the price of oil across the world affects, you know, what you pay at the pump.
I, uh, yeah, I'm not saying that's, that's right, but, but I mean, I, I get, I understand that, but that doesn't mean that your fucking gasoline should go up in the summertime just because it's summertime and everybody's traveling.
Right.
It's just, there's, there's, there's no reason for it.
It's stupid.
But, well, even like from day to day, like it's more expensive in the morning than it is at night because you're trying to host people as they take off for work.
Yeah.
See that, that's bullshit.
Yeah.
Like how does that, like, how's that even legal?
Yeah.
Like I don't even know how to understand how that works.
That's bullshit.
I don't know.
That's just, there's stuff that's above our pay grade and these are one, these are some of the many options that are above our pay grade.
Well, for sure, but it's, it affects everybody, right?
And you know, it's, we try and figure out why, why it is this way.
And well, at the end of the day, it's probably to pocket all these fucking billionaires or pad the pockets of all these other billionaires, right?
Because, uh, they're the ones, you know, who are benefiting from it.
So, uh, all of us fucking peons are getting fucking shit on.
And it's sad.
Yeah, it is.
Um, I want to talk to you about live music.
Did you buy your ticket to Keithmas this year?
No.
And that sold out so fucking fast.
I don't know if you noticed.
Yeah.
That sold out right away.
We didn't get tickets.
Um, myself, I don't really care.
The better half, I think she was probably wanting to go.
And, uh, you know, I don't know if tickets are out there, resale tickets are out there or not and how much they are.
But Keith, I mean, Keithmas is, it's a great event and it always is.
And they've great performances and it's a lot of fun.
Yeah.
And it's for a good cause, right?
So all of those things, it's awesome.
Um, it's, it's, it's just crazy how popular it's become.
Yes.
Like it's, and if you go, and we were talking about this.
When we found out it sold out and I think we've talked about it recently, you know, the last two or three years, it's, it's, it's attracting a different crowd, it seems.
And, and again, I'm not, that's not necessarily a problem.
It's good.
It's getting sold out and it's good that, you know, it's going for all the proceeds going for a good cause.
It, it, it's a different crowd now.
I don't know.
I don't, I can't, and I can't describe it.
It's different, different people are going.
It's almost like it's, you have to be, uh, I don't know.
I was going to say you almost have to be one of the cool people, I guess now if you're going, right.
It's, but I don't know if that's right or true, but anyways, but it is a different crowd, right?
It's, um, anyway, we're not going, um, yeah.
So that's that.
I, um, anyone who resells a Keithmas ticket or any concert that a hundred percent of the tickets go to the proceeds like that, I won't touch on this, but the, uh, the, the final Ozzy concert, the beginning is the end or the back to the beginning.
Like people reselling those tickets that a hundred percent of those tickets are going to, uh, like the charities, they, they have a special place in hell.
Yeah.
Fuck those guys.
Yeah.
If you're, if you're reselling to make a profit, like if you're reselling above the, the face value of a ticket, then you can fuck off.
Yeah.
I agree.
I understand you might not be able to make it, but you're selling for a thousand dollars more than resell on a ticket that's going like you, fuck you guys.
Yeah.
I agree.
There's, there's no place, uh, for that at all.
There's, uh, that's just pure fucking greed and, uh, yeah, it's, it's pretty sad.
Um, what about concerts for you?
Hey, before we talk about your concerts, because we're going to probably spend a half hour on those.
You've been, you've been to so many.
We actually went to see, uh, the who back in September.
Get the fuck out.
We went to a concert.
I went to a fucking concert.
How do you feel?
Are you okay?
I'm still here.
You see spots?
I'm still here and I'm still sort of talking legibly to you.
You can understand me, right?
Yep.
That's true.
I don't have a, I don't have a horn growing out of my head or anything like that.
Uh, right.
I'll have to check your backside, but we can do that later.
Oh, no, you're not going to.
Um, yes, we went to the, I wasn't going to go.
I didn't want to go.
I didn't care about going.
We've seen him before.
And.
Yeah.
And, um, I think it was, it was another one of those last minute things where the better half wanted, really wanted to go.
Yeah.
And so I got, uh, I got a couple of tickets.
Um, it was a fantastic show.
Yeah.
I can always imagine.
You know, those guys, those two guys are in their eighties.
Roger, despite some voice problems in the past, past years and stuff like that.
Um, just amazing.
He just sounded so good.
Yep.
Uh, the rest of the band was awesome.
Uh, Pete's brother always plays with them and Simon, Simon's great.
Um, yeah, it was, it was a good show.
So.
And that was what, late September?
That was early September, I think.
Early September.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yep.
So that was pretty cool.
Um, I can't remember what we saw before that.
I don't think we've seen anything else since we last chatted.
So, um.
Fuck, I don't even know what I've seen.
I, the last one I went and saw was, uh, Matthew Goode.
Okay.
Uh.
That was a while back then, I think.
Yeah, that was fucking.
It's October 25th was the last show.
Oh, okay.
That's.
I saw.
So that was cool.
I do enjoy Matthew Goode and the gang.
He's, uh, um, I got the chance to interview him a couple of times.
I went and saw Korn.
Korn was fucking awesome here.
Who opened for Korn?
Uh, there was somebody who.
Gojira.
Gojira.
Right.
Yes.
Yep.
That's, yeah.
And Gojira brought all of the fire.
They had so much fucking fire at the show.
It was, it was awesome.
Right on.
They're a great band.
I, I'm glad I saw them open for Metallica, you know, whatever year that was.
Whatever it was.
BC Place.
Yep.
That was good.
But, uh, I do have, I mean, I bought, what's it the fucking buy for?
I have Offspring coming up.
They're playing with Bad Religion.
I saw.
At Rogers.
I saw that.
That would, that would be cool.
Um, that would be a decent show.
I don't know why it's not the other way around, but whatever.
Um, Bad Religion is certainly the bigger, better band in my opinion.
But, um, still for both of them on the same bill, that's not so bad.
That would be cool to see.
Uh, I bought tickets to Orbit Culture.
They're playing at the Rickshaw, I think, uh, late February.
Cool.
You shared one of their songs.
That's good.
Yep.
Yep.
I like that new album, man.
That thing, uh, it's punishing.
It beats you in the face a little bit.
Yep.
Uh, Zakk Wylde is coming back to town with the Black Label Society.
Where, where's that show?
That's at the Orpheum.
Oh, no way.
That's cool.
Um, so he's playing it.
So it's Black Label Society and Zakk Sabbath.
Oh, it is?
No way.
Yeah.
So he's going to double duty on it.
Okay.
So that could be all right.
That could be all right.
And I also bought tickets for, um, uh, Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age.
Yeah.
Is that sold out yet?
Uh, I figured that would be, that would sell pretty quick.
Although it's at BC Place, isn't it?
Yeah.
So the stadium show for that.
Um, I think it's, I think there's, I think obviously there's always tickets there, but
again, Ticketmaster just reaping in the benefits, like double resale on their website.
So.
That's ridiculous.
It was, and I actually didn't end up, so there was, uh, a couple of pre-sales for that
Foo Fighters show.
There was the newsletter pre-sale, which I wasn't a part of.
Yeah.
Then there was the fan club pre-sale or the artist pre-sale, which you had to sign up and
pre-register and do all that shit.
Yeah.
And there's a general on sale thing.
So we tried to go for floor tickets for both nights were for the, uh, for the, um, the
artist pre-sale and then the general pre-sale.
Cause I didn't get them for the artist pre-sale, whatever it was.
And right away they were going up in price and whatever it was.
So I actually ended up getting my Foo Fighters ticket from, I think it was StubHub.
Yeah.
And it was like, I paid an extra $25 on top of the pre-sale price.
Yeah.
So, but I ended up getting my floor ticket for that.
Oh, cool.
So I was just like, but the fact that you had to buy it through a reseller just pisses me
off because.
Yeah, it does.
And I'm looking on it now or people want to join me and do different things.
They're like double the price now.
And I don't know if I just caught it at the right time, whatever it was, but I would have
been fucking pissed.
But.
That, that is, well, again, there's something.
Part of the ticket monopoly.
There's something else that shouldn't be allowed to the, you know, the way Ticket
Bastard operates.
Yeah.
We, we ended up, or I ended up buying tickets for Rush.
Oh, fuck.
Which is like a fucking year away.
I know that feeling.
It's December 15th or whatever.
Yeah, you do with Metallica, of course.
Yeah.
So.
That was two years in advance.
So a similar, a similar situation.
I ended up signing up for the artist pre-sale.
Yep.
It was actually, I was surprised.
It was actually a relatively painless experience despite the fucking cost of the ticket.
Yeah.
Um, I signed up, I signed in right away, like 15, 20 minutes before pre-sales or the sale
started.
Um, I joined the queue when it started and that went fairly quick.
I didn't have to wait too long.
I was able to choose my tickets and, you know, a couple minutes in and out, right?
It was, it was pretty quick and easy.
Now, you know, of course with those situations, you, you have to go in, you have to find something
right away and you have to, you know, buy it because if you wait, everything is going
to be sold out in five minutes, right?
And you won't be able to find anything.
So, so, um, so it's pretty simple, but still we're, we're at the back of the, we're upper
level at the back.
Yes.
We're row two, which is cool, but we're at the back.
Those tickets were $300 each.
Like fuck me.
Uh, that is probably, is that the most expensive ticket now on my list?
That's probably, it probably is.
I don't think anything else we went to before was that much.
$300 a ticket.
Yeah.
Like fuck off.
Like I looked at other tickets, like on the floor and lower bowl and like, holy shit.
Like, like, come on.
What, what is, why are they charging so much money?
Like fuck.
So yeah.
Anyways, anyways, I'm, um, I, it should be cool.
I think it's really cool what they're doing.
Uh, obviously they're musicians.
They're still, well, relatively young.
Uh, they still want to tour and keep going because that's all they know.
Yeah.
Um, so that's awesome.
Did you, did you, I'm sure you know who this drummer is that they've picked up.
Did you, have you, what do you know about her?
Oh, she's a beast.
She is.
That's crazy.
Anika Nilles.
Yes.
Uh, yeah.
She, she's a fucking beast.
Like, um, there's, there's no footage of her playing any Rush.
Songs.
And obviously Neil Peart is one of the greatest drummers that ever lived.
Yeah.
Um, but, um, I think that if you're a fan, like you're not going to be disappointed in
what she's doing or whatever it is.
Yeah.
Uh, she's my age.
She's 42.
She's, uh, you know, she's, I'm assuming like some of her videos, like obviously when
this announced got announced, everybody was looking her up, but I've seen her in like,
like drummer world and stuff.
I've been following her for a couple of years before this announcement.
Yeah.
So it just kind of blew my mind, but.
I figured you'd be, you would know who she is, but I, I, I knew nothing about her.
Um, I didn't know that she played with Jeff Beck and went on tour with him a lot because
you know what, maybe like I saw Jeff Beck at the, what was it called?
It was the called the Center for Performing Arts or whatever.
It's not, it's a fucking church now.
So yeah, no, I was, I think I was there.
Yeah.
I don't know if she was on that tour or not.
I think she came along with Jeff Beck after that tour, but I can't be 100% sure.
Um, I don't know.
I forget when that tour even happened.
So maybe I saw her, I, I, like, I don't know, but, um, obviously I didn't know about her
at the time.
I didn't know her name or anything about her, but yeah, I've been watching her stuff
and, you know, listening, listening to her and seeing her play, um, she, it just seems
like she's perfect for that.
She, her style, you know, she, she plays a lot of jazz and, you know, of course, most
of it's instrumental and stuff like that.
She's, you know, got a regular band, but it's all instrumental from what I've been able
to tell, but she just, it just seems like she's perfect.
Like, I don't know.
So it's just, it's just, nobody's going to be Neil Peart, but it seems like she's the
sort of the next best thing.
Right.
And, um, yeah, I'm, I'm, I'm looking forward to that.
I've been a Rush fan for many years.
Um, you know, more so their earlier stuff, of course, but yeah, but still, um, yeah, should
be, should be really cool.
See what they've got lined up.
See, like, um, I've only, I only saw Rush once.
Yeah.
And, uh, I mean, I mean, I love, like, I mean, I, I understand what they're doing,
but I just, I can't really get into it.
Do you know what I mean?
Like, uh, I'm a big fan of Moving Pictures.
And so when they announced that, uh, was a Time Machine Tour, I think it was.
Yeah.
And when they did Moving Pictures in its entirety, that was fucking awesome.
I mean, they opened up with Spirit of Radio.
They did Moving Pictures in its entirety.
So you got YYZ, Limelight, The Camera Eye, Witch Hunt, all that stuff, you know, kind of
back to back.
And that was fucking blew my mind.
Uh, Drum Solo, Close to the Heart, they did 2112, it's part one and two.
Like, I remember, I, I mean, I saw everything I need to see, so I'd never have to see Rush
again.
Yeah.
And I'm happy I got the chance to see that, but.
Yeah, cool.
Have you seen them more than once or is it just.
I've seen them at least three times.
Uh, I think four times and this could be five.
So I, I did see them.
I don't think I saw the Moving Pictures Tour, but I saw the two tours after that.
So that was in the early eighties when I saw them both times.
Yeah.
Um, yeah, yeah, great, great stuff.
That's all that stuff back then.
Um, but then I've seen them at least once since, uh, I may have seen that same tour that
you were talking.
Um.
But I think I saw the, I think I saw that final tour as well.
Um, what was that called?
The R40, whatever it is?
Yeah, I think I, I think I saw that final.
So, yeah.
Fuck, you probably saw the original Moving Pictures tour in what, 81, 82?
Well, no, I don't, I don't think, I think it was the tour after.
I saw them.
Oh, gotcha.
I saw them in Edmonton in 82, but that was their next, what was their album that came
out after that?
Cause it, Moving Pictures came out in 81.
I'm sure it was 81.
Uh, what was it after that?
Grace Under Pressure, I think was after that.
And that's the tour I saw, I think.
It was in Edmonton, the fall of 1982.
So whatever tour that was.
Yeah.
That's the first time I saw them.
And then I saw the next tour after that.
I know, I know for sure.
Um, yeah, that's, uh, they are a band that you either love or hate.
I understand that it's really progressive rock and it's really, you know, all of these
time changes, you know, the sound, uh, even Geddy's vocals.
I mean, I can understand people maybe not, you know, being turned off to that, but, but
whatever, I think great musicians.
Um, good Canadian band.
It was good to see them be as successful as they are since, you know, you don't see many
that, you don't see Canadian bands that successful.
I don't think.
They've got to be up there as being one of, one of the, if not the most successful Canadian
band.
Are they not?
I mean, yeah, there's, there's Neil Young.
Um, I mean, even The Hip were not that as, as popular in the States, especially.
Um, what are some of the other Canadian bands, I guess that came along, certainly from back
then, maybe there are now, I don't know, but like, hey, if you want to throw Nickelback
in there, they can fuck off, but maybe they've been more successful.
I don't know, but anyway, certainly all those bands, classic bands from whenever, from the
fifties, sixties, seventies, eighties, nobody probably beats Rush, I would think.
Like, yeah, you know, I mean, obviously I respect them and saw them and I just, I don't put
Rush on, I don't put them on, you know, but I love Yes.
I think Yes could be considered kind of Rush-ish.
They're, yeah, they're a, they're a progressive rock bands, probably, yeah, similar in many
ways.
Yeah.
You listen, you listen to their songs.
Yeah.
Fuck.
I'm out of fucking Canadian bands, like fucking, especially that kind of style.
Yeah.
I don't think, I don't think anybody was doing it.
Yeah.
Yeah, exactly.
For sure.
And that's what it is.
Yeah.
But yeah, that's, that's fucking, that's, that's super cool.
But yeah, no, fuck that.
I'm stoked that you got tickets for that.
That's, our good buddy JJ bought tickets to the two shows in Toronto and both shows here,
I think, and maybe Seattle.
Oh, right on.
So I just hope they change the set list.
Like, I hope it's something different every night.
Yeah.
It sounds like that's what they're doing for sure.
Yeah.
I, I, for everything I've read so far on the tour, it sounds like that's, that's the plan.
Yeah.
So that's, you know, that makes it worth it.
Yeah.
Even if it's one song difference, like that's what makes the fucking, the show worth it.
Yeah.
Yeah, it does.
Especially if you see a band a couple of times in a row, but.
Yeah.
Change it for the hardcore kids.
Change it for the hardcore kids.
Yes.
So, so you got Rush lined up.
Is there anything else you got lined up or is that it?
No, that's, that's it.
Um, that's it.
That's all I got.
And I think, I think The Who show is the only one that we've seen in quite, quite a while
too.
I can't, can't remember what we saw before that.
Um, no, I have no idea.
There was something in the summer I thought we saw, but I can't remember what it is.
Just one of those things.
I don't know.
Just one of those things.
Yeah.
Did you, so did you ever make it to Nails?
Have we talked since then?
Did you go see Nine Inch Nails?
Yeah.
I think we talked after that.
Cause that was July, wasn't it?
Um, was that July?
Yeah, that was July.
July or August.
I think it was July.
Anyways, no, no, I didn't see that.
I think we talked about it last time.
I didn't go.
It sounds like it was a great show.
I'm sure.
I'm sure it was.
Um.
Um, yeah, it probably would have been pretty cool.
I guess I'm kicking my butt for not going.
There's a couple of those that have happened along the way, but.
It sounds like he'll be doing it again.
Yeah.
Again, we can't see them all.
You can't see them all.
Like.
No.
And again, with me, I've really been picking and choosing, obviously.
It's, you know, it's just, again, it's so expensive.
It's, it really is.
I, I, uh.
I have a hard time paying that much money for a, for a concert.
I really do.
Yeah.
Fuck.
I didn't remember what I paid for foods.
I think it was like 300 bucks, 325 or something like that.
Yeah.
Uh, but I mean, you get, you got, it's a stadium show.
It's two of the arguably greatest rock bands ripping around right now.
So.
It'll be good.
I know we both love Queens and foods.
Dave is Dave.
He always puts on a fucking show.
So it's, uh, we'll kind of see what happens.
And seeing it up close.
Like I've never, I think this is one of the few times I've been in the pit for a BC
play show.
I'm always up in the stands.
So I'm going to be super curious to see what it's like, uh, up nice and close for this
gig.
Yeah.
Because it's just going to be like, we know, I'll know how BC places it's hit and
miss depending where you are.
So I hope that lower level is going to be good.
I don't remember the last show I was even from Metallica BC place.
I wasn't on the, uh, I wasn't on the floor.
I was up in the seats.
Yeah.
But yeah, shit.
Fuck.
It's, it'll be very interesting.
I'll report back next September.
Next September.
Yep.
Yes.
That's either.
It's a long ways away.
That's a fucking long ways away.
Uh, but since we're talking about tunes, let's get into music.
Uh, do you want me to go first?
Sure.
Yeah.
You go for it.
Go for it.
All right.
Let's see if this fucking works.
Okay.
Are we ready?
Now I gotta, I'm like you.
I have tabs open.
Yeah.
I'm a, I'm, it's over.
I just thought my, it's more, I'm more of a window per window kind of guy.
It's a different sorts of windows.
Uh, let's, let's give her a go here.
Uh, we got the fabulous Poppy coming out with a new album.
I think it comes out almost called empty hands.
It's called coming out January 23rd.
I think, um, she came up with a single last week or a couple of weeks ago.
It was called unravel, but then this one dropped this past week.
It's called bruised guy.
I fucking love this shit.
I, I love the hardcore metal chick vocals with the melodic shit.
Like this is, this is right up my alley and I saw her live.
So I went, I had the greatest polarizing concert experience of all time.
I went and saw Kelsey ballerini country artist in Seattle.
And then the next time I saw Poppy at a small club, Neptune Jeter in Seattle.
Yeah, that is.
And it was fucking awesome because the crowd difference, obviously Kelsey does a lot of,
uh, like caters to girls and stuff, but there are, you know, 25% dudes there.
But I remember standing in the line and there was, um, a bunch of girls in front of us.
So they kind of budged in and were kind of like this.
And they said, Oh, I hope they don't run out of white claw.
And we just started fucking laughing.
And, um, so that was it.
But then the next, um, next day we're in the middle of the pit for Poppy, whatever it was.
And there's these group of girls, but budged in front of us.
And we're just like, what the fuck?
They were smaller than us.
So who cares?
We can see over them.
Yeah.
But they're like, Oh, sorry for budging in front of you.
Do you want my white?
Do you want to sip of my white claw?
And I just started laughing because it was the complete opposite parallel to what we experienced the night before.
So, so that's that.
I know you're not a fan of this shit, but did you get, make it through the Poppy?
Did you enjoy it?
I made it through.
I don't know if it's, I mean, I didn't hate it by any means.
I understand.
I, I know listening to it for sure.
I can see why it's your right up your alley.
It's, I know it's the stuff that you love for sure.
It's a, yeah, it's okay.
I didn't, I didn't hate it.
I didn't hate it.
So that's, that's, we're already at a win.
Our first show back, we're at a win.
Way to go.
Doing well.
But, you know, like right in the next hit, her last sight.
This is, this is out of music.
You know, like the hardcore metal with the breakdowns.
This is what, this is why I love this shit.
I found these guys.
I don't know.
They're from Sweden, I think, or Finland or some shit.
These Finland guys know how to rock.
They, they just kick shit.
Did you make it through this?
I made it through.
It's probably the same, the same as the poppy.
I, I, I, it's not my thing, but I didn't hate it.
So.
You made it through the song.
I made it through the song.
I'm doing.
Let's just get to the breakdown.
I'm doing, I'm doing good.
Two for two.
Two for two.
Um, yeah.
All the Scandinavian shit though.
It's, it's, it is, there's so much good stuff out there for sure.
I don't know what it is up there with those guys and girls.
They just know how to rock for sure.
Like, come on, come on.
Yeah.
See, see, that's not really my thing.
I know that you love that shit.
Oh yeah, shit.
It's just, I love it because like the whole song's like not, I want to say not based around,
I'm sure it's not like that, but they're just kind of like, it kind of goes and peaks the valleys
and you get this and you just want to start a circle bit by yourself.
Fuck.
Like I remember the first time I saw Lama God life.
Like it was, uh, the, um, it was the headbangers ball tour and it was kill switch and Lama God
at the Commodore ballroom.
Yeah.
And like, I just remember just like what the fuck is going on?
And like, I'm in a circle plate in the middle of nowhere.
And I'm just like, oh, I fell in love with it.
It was just the, I love that shit.
Um, so that's that.
So that's her last site.
They have a new album coming out.
They actually have a new single out and it's like, they have like a polka break.
Down on it.
It's called the fall, but that's besides it.
This one was called her last sites.
Uh, the song was called, what the hell was that song called?
Uh, chasing shadows.
So check out her last site.
If you're into breakdowns and heavy guitar solos.
And we talked about this before, but Black Label Society is coming back to Vancouver.
Uh, this is their latest single off an untitled album.
Still, I know he's recording and doing a bunch of shit, but there's no, um, album release
date for any of the new stuff.
Yeah.
But, uh, Zach and company are in town Tuesday, March 17th, which is what St. Patrick's day.
I think that is March 17th.
It is for sure.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Cool.
Yeah.
Great.
Uh, great song.
I just, so this, this is, uh, uh, you know, I must say that I have not spent a lot of
time listening to Black Label Society.
Um, and I should, and, but I love this song and I mean, obviously this is very influenced
by his days playing for, with Ozzy and certainly the Black Sabbath influences there.
Absolutely.
This has got that style of music all over it.
So, yeah.
Yeah.
Man.
And it's just like that.
I went back and watched the beginning at last or beginning of the, this is the beginning.
What's the Ozzy thing called again?
The final show.
Yeah.
Back to the beginning.
This is the, back to the beginning.
Fuck.
It is so fucking cool.
Yeah.
It's a, such a, such a celebration of music and heavy metal and stuff.
And it is for sure.
We've been watching, uh, I might as well bring it up now.
I don't know if you were, we were going to get to it, but we, we watched the, there's
two newer documentaries out on Ozzy.
Uh, it's more focused on Ozzy, not Black Sabbath.
One is a BBC episode.
It's a, it's an hour long BBC documentary.
I forget what it's called, but then there's this two hour, um, it's called no escape from
now and it's, and it focuses more on the previous, I guess, four years to, to back
to the beginning.
It does end with back to the beginning.
Yeah.
And, uh, so, so it's obviously, you know, it's a new documentary kind of up-to-date
footage from that, from that show.
Uh, and then of course he passed away.
Um, but it's, it's pretty good.
It's, it's well done.
It's two hours.
Um, yeah, it's pretty cool.
We'll check it out.
So like, like, I don't know, like all, like, I, I can't believe the shit that he went
through, not, not only those last four years, but he, he's been battling health problems
like for the last 25 years or whatever, something like that.
Like that's a fucking long time to, to be going through all that shit and to, um, you
know, to still, at least, you know, obviously some tours were canceled because of these health
problems, but to still try and, you know, he was still a recording at least and still
sounding good, still being relevant.
Um, trying to do it even up until that final show.
I mean, it just sounds like even that final show was in jeopardy because of health problems.
And, uh, he did it and then that's it.
He, he's gone.
That was his.
Yeah.
Um, I completely forgot about that Ozzy documentary, the No Escape from, No Escape from Now.
No Escape from Now.
Yeah.
So I, I, I, I have found it.
It's, it's, it's, it's queued up.
It's ready to go.
Cool.
And that BBC documentary was, uh, Coming Home.
Coming Home.
Yeah, that's right.
Yeah.
They're, they're very similar.
Um, Coming Home is, I mean, I'm not giving away anything really, but it, it, it, it, it's,
it focuses them on living in Los Angeles, uh, and obviously them thinking about moving back
to England.
And so, uh, because they've had their home back in England for so many years, but it was
left empty.
And so it just, you know, obviously the health problems and the tours and stuff that are in
there, but, but yeah, the, so it's not bad.
Um, I think the more, the Escape from Now is more, more encompassing of those final four
years or something like that.
So in fact, in fact, it doesn't talk really much about them moving back to their old house
in England, um, uh, so much.
It just focuses more on his health and everything else going on, I think at the time.
So anyways, it, it, it, it's good.
You know, it's, he, he's such an entertaining character.
He really is.
It's just, it's just pretty funny.
So it's such a loss.
Yeah, absolutely.
Um, I, I remember seeing this clip recently about, um, about the, the final gig and like
he wasn't, it was just touched on, he wasn't about to play.
So they had everybody on standby to sing with, you know, to perform the solo songs and the
Sabbath songs, but he pulled it together and came through and it was like an amazing
performance and.
Yeah, for sure.
A great way to say goodbye.
So.
Yeah.
That's.
That was cool.
I think that's why he, he, he held it together somehow so that he could do that final show
because he had never been able to do that, to say goodbye and say, you know, that's his
was, that's his proper way of thanking everybody and all the fans and everything.
Right.
And he was able to do that.
So, uh, he held it, he held it together long enough for that.
That was, that was amazing.
Yeah.
Just, just, just, yeah.
Fuck.
What, what, what a night of tunes.
Yeah.
And I know we both looked, talked about going to it and stuff.
Oh, I know.
It would have been so amazing.
So much.
Yeah.
It would, it would have been, it would have been the pinnacle of music.
Yeah.
Like that.
You can't, you're not going to beat that before.
Final Sabbath, all those bands playing, like they would have been fucking awesome.
Yeah.
That would have been cool.
All right.
Anyways, moving on.
Uh, orbit culture coming to town.
I like these guys.
I have a friend, um, his name's Adam Warren.
He's a big fan of these guys and he's pushed these guys on me a couple of times since,
um, he's been around for these guys like birth and he's first hairline tour here in, um, coming
to Vancouver.
I think it's February 22nd, but these guys were in town a year and a half ago.
They opened for machine head.
Oh wow.
Um, so yeah, I remember catching these guys cause they were the, uh, one of the opening
acts and one of the ones on my radar, but this song just fucking punches you in the face.
Yeah.
Uh, it's called Tales of War.
It's off their latest album, which just came out.
Um, so give it a, give it a listen if you're into this shit.
Did you, uh, you make it through this?
This, this I like, I didn't mind this.
There is something different about it and something, uh, something about it that I like more than
that, than those other couple of tunes, but yeah, uh, yeah, this like, this I could get
into for sure.
Yeah.
It's, uh, it's good stuff.
It's good stuff.
Cool.
Uh, they're at the Rickshaw.
I think tickets are like 50 bucks if you want to join us for this guy, but, uh, yeah,
it's, uh, it's good.
It's, uh, it just punches you in the face.
Yeah.
And this is, this is great shit.
Right on.
When is that show again?
Uh, February 22nd.
Okay.
I think.
Yeah.
Cool.
Um, yeah.
Sunday, February 22nd.
Okay.
So another ticket master thing.
I think there's tickets still available.
So, uh, check out the mighty orbit culture.
All right.
And, uh, this is a little left field out of me for, uh, um, some pics of the week, but
I will fucking listen to everything.
But the, uh, the girlfriend and I, the girlfriend went and saw Oasis a couple months ago in Los
Angeles.
Yeah.
And, um, I had this song in my head and it was this, and it was, uh, it's not
no Gallagher's.
So one of the Gallagher brothers, uh, solo projects.
And, uh, so it's no Gallagher's high flying birds.
And this song was in my head and it's called the dying of the light.
And I was like, Oh yeah, they have this Oasis song.
It kicks ass.
So I have to play it.
And I fucking went through every fucking Oasis song.
And I'm like, this isn't it.
And then I remember all, they both have solo projects.
So I went through all the solo projects and stuff.
Yeah.
And I remember seeing this song perform live with Sean Tomko at the Vogue.
So it really sticks out in my mind.
Like I remember the, the concert memory of it and I love the song.
So I'm like, I had to find it and I found it and here it is.
And that's the story behind it.
But the dying of the light of no Gallagher's album, I think it's just the dying of the
light.
And, uh, yeah, I fucking love this song.
Did you make it to this song or fuck Oasis and fuck the Gallagher brothers?
Fuck Oasis.
Fuck the Gallagher brothers.
No, there's no fucking way.
I'm giving them any time of day.
There's no fucking way.
I, I, I just, I can't do it.
I just, I, I, I, um, there's, there's this hate there, uh, because part of it is not even
just, some of it may not even have anything to do with the music.
Well, it does a lot, obviously that's, but, but I don't get the fucking fandom of, I don't
get the reaction that people have over these guys, over this music.
It's just like, what the fuck is like, have they brainwashed you in some way to, to make
you big fans like this?
Like there, there is nothing.
And this is obviously just my opinion and nobody else gives a shit, but it's just like,
there is nothing about their music that stands out that, that, that draws me in.
It's just.
I'll turn it off.
I thought somebody could get stabbed.
I'll stab you through the cameras here.
Like, like turn that shit off.
Like it's, I, I, like, I don't know.
Like, I know maybe I'm just, maybe I'm going overboard here, but I just, I don't, I don't get
it.
I really don't.
Nope.
Nope.
I don't get it.
And they can, yeah, like I said, they can fuck off.
I get, I get fucking angry when I hear their fucking music.
I do.
As you, as you can tell.
Yeah.
Fuck.
Change of topics.
Let's go to your song, Stephen.
What do you got this week?
Okay.
How could I piss you off now?
Oh, fuck.
Well, yeah.
Anyways.
No, no, I respect that other, you know, everybody likes their own stuff and I get that.
Yeah.
And that's what counts.
And that's what counts.
I still don't get it.
I, I still really don't get it.
Like this, this latest tour of those, of theirs, like I just, people went fucking, they
were drooling and going fucking gaga over these fucking, this, this, this, this show.
And I don't know why.
I don't understand.
Yeah.
This kind of came out of, came out of nowhere, right?
Like, it's just, uh, like I knew they were big, but I didn't think they were like, this
is like crazy Taylor Swift levels big.
Like they were fucking losing their minds for these shit.
Exactly.
I don't, I don't know why.
Um, I think for those of us keeping track in Taylor Swift's world, there's a new documentary
coming out December 12th.
Okay.
Okay.
All right.
I'm moving on to my music now.
What do we got here?
We've got this here.
We've got some Fire and Water.
That's what we got.
This will combat any of that Oasis shit.
This is, uh.
I mean, you can't fuck with this.
No, this is, this is good.
This is a great cover by COC.
Uh, this great cover of, uh, Fire and Water by Free.
Uh, they call this, they call this the Riffissippi Studio Jam Session Volume 1.
Are there any other tunes that have come from this jam session?
Because maybe I haven't looked good enough, but I'm interested in hearing more.
Yeah, no, totally.
Um, I didn't even know, I thought there was, I didn't even know this was a cover.
So, uh, there we go for that.
Yeah.
Anyway, good, good stuff.
Pepper sounds great.
The rest of the band is awesome.
Who is, who is the bass player?
Because I think he's now a, uh, permanent replacement for Mike Dean.
Because I've seen him on other videos and other footage.
But he looks familiar.
I don't know.
I can't, I can't place him.
I don't know.
I don't know who he is.
Like, yeah, fuck, I have, I have no idea.
Anyway, it could be me up there with that beard and stuff and the tooth, but.
Yeah, no, I thought the same thing.
I'm not, uh, I'm not good enough, uh, well, I'm not a musician, so I won't even try.
Anyway.
Yeah.
Anyway, great song.
Great song.
COC.
I, I hope, I hope there's some more stuff out there coming soon.
Um, I mean, of course there's the, um, there's the down, um, recordings or sessions coming.
I mean, they're recording, I think.
Down is coming out with a new album, right?
So.
Yeah.
So we got that, that to look forward to as well.
Yeah, shit.
I didn't even know this was part of the, like, I had no idea this song existed.
So when he brought this up, I was like, oh, fuck, this is cool.
Yeah.
But, uh, yeah, new Down's going to be awesome.
Yeah, absolutely.
So, yeah, it's, it's a lot of, it's a good time for, uh, being a fan of Down or COC or even
Pantera.
Have you heard anything about Pantera's new stuff or anything like that?
Or are they just.
Yeah, that I haven't either.
I mean, they did all the touring.
I don't know that I heard that they ever stepped into the studio for stuff.
Have you?
No, I haven't heard shit.
Yeah.
I don't know if they're keeping it quiet or, or what's going on, but.
Yeah, it'd be interesting.
I don't know.
It'd be interesting to see what they come up with.
Was that just kind of a, kind of a one-off tour that they did or is there more to come?
I don't know.
I hope there's more stuff.
Yeah.
But we'll see.
We will see.
Okay, uh, another new tune and I didn't know that Megadeth was kind of wrapping things
up, but apparently, uh, their new album coming out in whatever it is, January, whatever it
is.
Is that what it is?
Have you heard it?
Do you know the controversy behind this album?
Have you been paying attention?
I have not.
No.
So on this new album, they're doing a cover of Ride the Lightning by Metallica.
Okay.
Yes.
I did hear that.
Yeah.
That song, but I didn't know that there was any controversy around it.
Um, yeah, cause Dave's taken all, of course, Dave, Dave has taken all writing credits,
you know, whatever.
Yeah.
It's my song, but he's not changing any of the lyrics.
He's using Hetfield's lyrics, but the only thing he stated was they're doing, he's redoing
the solo because of course he is.
Okay.
Uh, but, uh, I'm interested to hear that cover, but, uh, yeah, no, this was, uh, see, I,
the song is, uh, I don't know.
It's more of a slap in the face.
Is it more of a fuck you?
Like, what is the, I don't understand.
And I don't quite, I mean, I don't get this making that song.
Cause the first single was called Tipping Point Office album and that was actually pretty
good.
But, uh, what do you, like, what do you think of this?
I mean, it's your song.
Obviously you liked it, but.
Yeah.
I don't, I don't mind the song.
I mean, it's, it's, it's not a, it's not a thrash song.
I don't think considered it a thrash song, although I was going to say it sounds more
like punk, but then you, one could say that there are some very close similarities between
punk and thrash.
So I, you know, I don't know, but, um, I like, I mean, I like it.
I like it.
I don't know.
Yeah.
Um.
No, it's good.
Yeah.
Like I'm looking at some of the lyrics here too.
And I guess I kind of get what you mean.
Like what is he, you know, he, he's throwing the, throwing the finger in the video and,
you know, he's talking about not caring about other people and what they say or, or any of
that stuff.
Right.
I wonder who he's or what he's talking about.
Um, but anyway, this is one of the first songs that have debuted at number one for Megadeth.
Is it really?
Wow.
Yeah.
Wow.
Uh, it's, it's like, so theoretically right now, Megadeth has a number one song and Taylor
Swift has a number two song.
So that's crazy.
I mean, think about that, that spectrum.
So that's, that shows you what the music charts are all about right there.
But I'm glad Taylor's no longer a top, at least right now.
So she could fuck off too.
Sorry.
So I guess, I guess you won't be watching the documentary on December 12th.
Nope.
Uh, well, you know, what's cool about that is she does shit for her fans.
They recorded those three BC play shows.
So the, one of the last, like that last concert film that she puts out, it was all recorded
in Vancouver.
Oh, okay.
Okay.
Well, that's.
So if you had to put it on mute in the background, there you go.
No, I, I wouldn't do that either.
No, it's, I'm not getting anywhere near that.
You're cranking on that new Sonos system then.
Here's something I'll crank on the new system.
There's some Bell Witch and Aerial Ruin, two, two, two, two, two bands who have collaborated
on this album called, so I'm going to get some volume here, I guess.
Um, uh, let's see, uh, new album called Stygian Bough, Volume Two.
So it's out now.
Um, I didn't know about this album until just, just recently.
I'm not even familiar with the band Aerial Ruin.
Obviously very familiar with Bell Witch.
They actually recorded an album that's, uh, I think the only one song and I think it's
about 60 minutes long.
So that's right up your alley.
Oh, fuck.
So, um, yeah.
Yeah.
It's called, oh, Waves Became the Sky.
That's the name of the song.
It's, it's doom metal.
It doesn't speed up much from here for sure.
Yep.
No, I, uh, I listened to all the 13 minutes.
I'm like, here we go.
It's our first 13 minute song.
I'm like, we got to do what we're going to do.
Yeah.
Um, yeah, it was, it was, it's, it's, it's, uh, it's good.
Production was there, you know, like, okay.
That's important.
That's important for you.
Yep.
Yep.
Because I listened to it on my Ray in the Starbucks this morning.
So, uh, okay.
Yep.
That's cool.
It was the full trip back.
In fact, I still had a minute when I pulled into the driveway.
All right.
Hopefully you sat there for another minute and then finished it off.
I had to.
I had to.
That's good.
Thank you.
Yep.
Proud of you.
Just for you.
Don't say I don't do anything for you.
Proud of you.
But yeah, no, I'd, I'd never heard of these guys before and I'm happy.
So you think, do you do a 60 minute song?
Well, Bell Witch does.
They've got, uh.
Oh, Bell Witch.
I forget the name of the album.
Um.
No, I can't even remember right now.
I think it, I think it is one song.
Yeah.
And I think it's 50, 60 minutes or something.
So.
See, I would love to see them do that live.
Yeah.
That would be quite, quite the trip, I guess.
Eh?
Yeah.
It's like, oh, it's okay.
I'll take a piss after the song ends.
Well, the song's 60 minutes.
Fuck.
But yeah, no, that's, uh, yeah.
Good stuff.
Good stuff.
Yeah.
Cool.
Uh, that's, uh, that's all I got.
I only got the three songs today.
Well, it's actually four songs if you want, so.
Oh, that's true.
Good, good work.
And as always, if you want to listen to any of the
picks of the week that we pick, uh, you can find
it all at oldmenwhoyellatclouds.com.
Uh, we talked about this earlier off the top, but
you did watch your 31 Days of Horror.
Did you end up watching all 31 days?
No, I didn't.
I never do.
Oh, okay.
It's again, so much going on.
Baseball in there.
You know, I, some, there were a couple of days
where maybe I'd pick up a couple of games or a
couple, watch a couple of movies over the weekend
or something.
I started early.
Um, like I probably started in September keeping
track of some of the movies I was watching.
So it's not a true 31 Days of October, but, um, uh,
yeah, no, it's, it's always, I mean, I, I can
watch horror movies.
I don't wait for October to watch horror movies
because I love watching them.
Um, uh, so, but there's lots of good, decent
stuff in there anyways, lots of bad stuff too.
Like I, like I tried to pick some stuff that I
think I will like, but obviously not everything
is good.
So, uh, I did watch 28 Years Later.
Um, at first, at first I was, as the movie was
going, I was kind of a little bit disappointed,
but, but it did, uh, it did pick up and I'm
looking, obviously I think there's another two
movies that are already in the works, uh, as
sequels to all of this.
Um, so I'm interested in that.
Um, I like, I kind of liked how it finished and
it, and it's, it's got me intrigued about
what's, what's to come.
Um, so that was pretty cool.
Um, I, I think they are eventually going to
bring in Cillian Murphy.
He was the, in the original movie, like 20,
whatever, three years ago or whatever.
I think they are eventually bringing him in as
bringing his character back, obviously 28 or
however many years later we are here now.
But, uh, so that'd be kind of cool.
Um, the next one is called, I think it's
coming out in January.
I think it's, uh, The Bone Temple, 28 Days
Later, The Bone Temple, 28 Years Later, The
Bone Temple.
And they touched on that in the ridge, like
that temple of bones.
I mean, that was fucking pretty cool.
Yeah.
But, um, uh, I'm, I'm kind of indifferent on
that ending though, because you get that group
of guys who like all the neon jumping around
and doing things, I thought that was a little
weird, but obviously I hope it plays well
into this or whatever happens.
So yeah, um, see what happens.
Uh, what else stood out for me?
Uh, Black Phone.
I don't know if you watched those movies.
The first one came out in 2021.
The Black Phone 2 came out this year.
Uh, Black Phone, the first one was excellent.
I, I really liked that.
I, I, um, that was probably, is it my
favorite on the entire list?
I would probably say so.
There were two actually.
So Black Phone was really good.
Uh, Weapons was really good.
Weapons is a new movie.
This came out this summer, I think.
Um, I, I don't know if you've, you've seen
it, but it's actually.
Yeah, no, I watched that Weapons.
Yeah, I, I, I really liked that movie as
well.
It was, it was pretty good.
So yeah, I think those two stood out for me.
Um, yeah, again, there's some shit in here.
Megan, the first Megan movie was good.
The second one, the sequel was just shit.
Just awful.
I, I didn't like that one at all.
Um, Us was a really good movie.
Together was a really good movie.
It was kind of fucked up, but it was pretty good.
Um, yeah.
Even Eden Lake was really good.
That, that movie kind of surprised me.
I didn't think it would be as good as it was,
but that was good.
So.
Gotcha.
Some of them I had seen before.
I had seen Bird Box before.
I think why, the reason why I wanted to watch
Bird Box again is because I watched it in, uh,
HDR with Dolby Atmos.
Oh yeah.
So that was, that was pretty cool.
A couple of these I saw, uh, in HDR.
So, including 28 Years Later.
So anyway.
Perfect.
Um, some good stuff, some average stuff,
some, a couple of bad ones on there too,
but check out the list on the website.
It's already up and let us know what you watched.
Um, yeah, go ahead.
I, I ended up watching, um, all The Conjuring
movies again for Halloween.
I wanted to do that too.
And I never got to them.
Fuck.
I just, just cool.
There's the fourth one.
The Last Rites just came out.
Yeah.
Uh, so watched all three and the fourth one
Last Rites.
And then we also started watching the Scream
movies again.
Okay.
So I got two more Scream movies to go because
the Scream 7 is coming out in February in
the theater.
So.
Yeah.
Because they brought back, um, oh, both of them.
Good old Neve, Neve Campbell.
Yeah, yeah, that, that's right.
Yes.
So they agreed to some, they probably realized
that the last movie was shit without her.
So decided to pay her what she wanted for
this one.
So.
As they should.
I mean, fuck, it's like.
Oh, I, I agree.
Yeah.
And I think Courtney Cox is back.
And, uh, so, I mean, that's cool.
Yeah, for sure.
But it was, uh, it was awesome.
You know, Sidney Prescott and the gang and
the Scream universe is still pretty fucking
cool.
It should be.
I wonder what, if they're going to be able
to do anything different or what, I guess
we'll find out.
Because there's the new, I also on my list,
there was the new, I, I was a sequel of, I
Know What You Did Last Summer.
Yeah.
So it's same.
Did you watch that?
Same title, but it, but it is actually kind of a,
how many years later, right?
So.
Yeah.
I did watch it.
Um, yeah, I mean, it was okay, I guess.
Uh.
I was a little surprised, I guess, by the
ending and how that, that kind of finished
things off, but.
Yeah.
Um, yeah, I mean, it was okay.
So.
Is it worth, I gotta watch, I mean, I have to
watch it.
Well, yeah, yeah, you watch it anyways.
If you, if you enjoyed the first one, even the
first two, I guess, cause I did watch the first
two original ones.
I know some other sequels came after that, but
then they.
Yeah.
They've continued this, they've finished off
the story here, maybe, hopefully, I don't
know, uh, with this latest movie.
So check it out.
We'll see what happens.
We'll see what happens.
A couple other movies though.
I watched, I rewatched Mad Max Fury Road in
HDR and Dolmy Atmos.
Isn't it such a fucking badass?
What a, what a, what a great movie.
Yeah.
And it just looks so good.
It looks just fantastic.
Fun movie to watch for sure.
Yeah.
Uh, another fun movie though.
And I was, I've been wanting to watch this for
a while.
The reason why I'm watching it now is because
there is a sequel coming out maybe in a couple
of weeks, I think it's coming out soon.
And that's called, the name of it is Sisu.
Yeah.
It's a Finnish movie, although it's all in
English, but I mean, it's, it's Finnish made,
but everything, all the, all the speaking parts
are, uh, or at least most of them are in
English, but it's such a good show, man.
It's so entertaining.
It's, it's a lot of fun.
It's, yeah, it's, uh, I mean, it kind of
reminds me of the, it takes place at the end
of World War II, uh, in Finland, um, you know,
I think the Germans have realized they've, they're
losing the war and it's probably almost over, but
they are still, you know, causing havoc across,
across the country of Finland.
So, um, it's, it's, I don't know, I'm trying to
think of, is it kind of a, a John Wick, um, World
War II era or, or something like that?
But it's just, it's, it's really similar in a lot
of ways.
It's just, you know what?
You got to watch it.
Yeah.
See, it, it wasn't on my radar and once, uh, um,
Predator Badlands, uh, last week.
Yeah.
And we got Sisu, the Road to Revenge trailer.
That's the sequel.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Uh, so I didn't even know there was a first
one.
My dad's like, oh yeah, I watched this a couple
months ago.
It was awesome.
We're like, oh fuck.
Yeah.
So, yeah.
So that one comes out, uh, November 27th.
Okay.
Got it.
So check out the first one though.
Again, I watched that in, uh, uh, on, you know,
it sounded great.
It looked great.
It was just a fun movie to watch.
And, uh, it's funny, the, the lead character,
um, he's a badass and he, he has absolutely no
speaking parts in the movie until the very end.
And, and it's just, and it's just kind of
funny, but, uh, but yeah, yeah, it's really
cool.
Really cool film.
I'm looking forward to the sequel.
So.
And I also lied.
It's November 21st.
Okay.
Don't lie again.
Don't lie again.
Sorry, my bad.
That's next week already.
This week coming up.
Yeah.
All right.
Uh, you know what?
A bunch of TV and stuff in there.
I won't even get into everything.
Um, I will say that I'm disappointed with the
Alien series.
Uh, I did finish the end, but I'm kind of
disappointed in it.
It looked good, but I just, I don't know.
There's some stuff about it that I just
didn't, didn't really like.
Because every, I haven't watched it yet.
It's on the list.
So does it like the first couple episodes
were supposed to be really good.
Did it go downhill from that?
Yes.
I think so.
Yeah.
I mean, it finished okay, but, but I mean,
overall, I just, I was expecting more.
I don't know why.
I just, I was expecting more.
Um, what you need to watch is Mobland.
If you haven't watched it already, watch
Mobland.
Oh fuck man.
What a brutal series.
Um, it's about a, about a mob family or a couple
of mob families in, in the UK.
Um, some big stars in it.
It's Pierce Brosnan, uh, Tom Hardy's in it.
It's, uh, it's a great, great TV series.
Uh, I think, I'm sure there's a season two
already lined up.
Uh, check that out.
See, I have like, I think we talked about this
before, but I have a problem watching a TV show
if it's not like three seasons or more, because
you get so invested in it and then they end it
and you get fucked.
So, and I hate that.
That happened for me for, uh, uh, Terminator,
the Sarah chronic, the Sarah Connor Chronicles.
I fucking love that show that it ended.
As I kept being a couple more that's been like
that too, but, uh, like dollhouse.
I love Dollhouse.
Remember Dollhouse?
Yeah.
Um, same kind of thing that happened for that.
There's been a couple of them, but I do have
to watch Mayor of Kingstown.
I do have to watch that one.
Uh, Sylvester Stallone.
What's that one called?
Um, yeah.
Uh, what is it called?
It's, it was right in front of me.
I noticed it this morning here too.
Um, oh shit.
I got it.
I got it.
Sylvester Stallone.
Uh, what the fuck is that called?
Um, yeah.
Cause I, it's supposed to be good as well.
It's in the season three, I think already, isn't it?
Yeah.
And there's a bunch of guys who, um, who are
talking about it a lot, which is sweet.
So yeah, I'm, I'm super stoked.
I got, I see to watch, this isn't enough time
and fucking day.
Yeah.
I'm behind on every fucking show, but it's Tulsa
King.
That's it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And there's series three now, I think for that.
Yeah.
It's out now.
I think it's, it's early on season, whatever
season it is, it's early on, a couple episodes
in, I think.
So, um, I get, I get, I get your, your being
pissed off if you become vested in a series.
I mean, some, some series are just, they, they
run their course in one or two seasons and they
end as they're supposed to.
Um, yeah, you don't, you don't like to spend
time and have the production company call it
quits or these networks saying, uh, well, I'm
not going to renew these anymore cause they
suck.
So, uh, so I get that, but, um, yeah, yeah,
there's, there's some stuff that's really good.
IT, Welcome to Derry is another one.
It's obviously based on Stephen King's, uh, book.
Uh, uh, I'm into that now.
I think it's three, three episodes have come
out.
So that's really good.
I'm into, I'm into that sort of thing,
obviously.
So.
Also, um, the movie in theaters, uh, Now You
See Me, did you ever watch those?
It's old school magic.
It has a Woody Harrison, Jesse Eisenberg,
Isla Fisher.
Uh, no, no.
There's a new one out in theaters, which is
getting great reviews, but, uh, one of parts
one and two are on Netflix right now.
If, uh, you're into that kind of thing.
So I give that a watch for sure.
Cause they're kind of cool magician movies.
Okay.
It's kind of outside the box, but, uh, the
third one came out on Friday.
So I'm going to try to go catch that in
theaters this week.
If I, if I can, but again, there's a lot,
a lot, not a lot of time.
Nope.
That's always the problem.
Always is.
We're losing.
I'm losing the battle here, Stephen.
I'm losing the battle.
Okay.
